>> 25% Porn Tax in Hungary [official, no joking...]

I was hearing this and that in last months about this topic, but it seems they are not joking at all as the law went through our parliament and yesterday they published the details of this shit [text is Hungarian, page 161. and 183. has the info you might need].

The major effect you might care about is that producing porn in Hungary will be taxed with an extra 25%...

The law has most effect on advertising and broadcasting porn within Hungary, but there are Fucking Very Stupid parts in the text of the law: they tax pornographic radio shows [WTF?!?] and pornographic sculptures [???!??!?!??] and other works of art...

UNREAL!!! :Oh crap

Lykos 12-02-2011 02:26 AM

That's a lot :(

Cherry7 12-02-2011 04:41 AM

What and how is being taxed?

Production companies filming in Hungary? Model Agencies?

Details please

DVTimes 12-02-2011 04:47 AM

is that an extra tax on top of normall tax?

when you say tax, is it like vat that we have in the uk thats applied to a lot of goods.

what is the normall level of tax/vat goods have in hugary.

DWB 12-02-2011 05:33 AM

u-Bob 12-02-2011 06:20 AM

more details pls

Matyko 12-02-2011 06:31 AM

Hi All,

This 25% tax is absolutely on top of all the other taxes like VAT which is 25% AND increasing to 27% 1st Jan 2012... :(((((

I know little of the details but I am posting a few articles I found about the topic [don't be confused, these articles are all from the past when this was just a plan.idea..]:

http://www.slashfilm.com/hungary-con...traight-films/
http://tease.thedailywh.at/2011/10/2...ax-of-the-day/
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118044778

Will post more when the news reaches international waters... :P

This tax is an 'assfuck-by-desert-dry-penis' for everyone who is shooting porn here.. Now everyone will move to shoot in our neighborhood...

k0nr4d 12-02-2011 06:34 AM

It's definately a stupid tax, but I don't think charging the producers is what they had in mind. It's probably mostly targetting pay per view porn on TV etc.

Fletch XXX 12-02-2011 06:40 AM

theyd burn witches still if they could. taxing sins is their last resort.

DVTimes 12-02-2011 06:44 AM

so if you sell porn, its 50% tax (both tax together).

is it suposed to raise money or just a backdoor way to shut porn down in hugary?

To raise money is my guess. Hungary is having some financial problems atm. It's something that would make a bit of extra coin yearly without having mass protests fire up.

MaDalton 12-02-2011 06:51 AM

i hope the czech government doesnt take that as example

CurrentlySober 12-02-2011 06:52 AM

And Pics ???

EukerVoorn 12-02-2011 07:33 AM

This is really fucked up. Some years ago they had similar plans in France but soon they realized that all producers simply would move to Spain or Portugal so the plan was flushed through the toilet. Same will happen in Hungury... everybody affected by this will flee, so in the end it will cost the Hungary state money, so they will drop it.

And someone wrote "Hungary is having some financial problems atm" ?

Well mention one country that doesn't have financial problems right now. There's a global crisis going on and the big crash hasn't started yet, but it will start soon and it will be harder and faster than the big 20th century crashes because back then they didn't have internet and financial news went relatively slow (TV, radio, phone, fax, newspapers). If today a big collapse takes off in the US, people all over the globe will know about it a few minutes later so the panic snowball will roll with the speed of light.

MaDalton 12-02-2011 07:41 AM

i am not that far from Budapest, just send the models over and we can shoot them here :Graucho

djroof 12-02-2011 08:58 AM

that really sucks!!!!

brassmonkey 12-02-2011 09:02 AM

sucks for them

calvinawe 12-02-2011 09:04 AM

we call it "fuck you tax".

"why does it have 25% tax all of a sudden?" "because Fuck you, that's why!"

EukerVoorn 12-02-2011 10:36 AM

So if you want to get fucked, go to Hungary :)

This will have sweet benefits for you indeed. :pimp

Cherry7 12-02-2011 03:32 PM

It does not say what will be taxed.

If it does not effect production it will have no effect at all.

Difficult to see how they could tax production as productions are not in anyway declared.

There is no product that adult productions use that are not used by normal film productions, or fashion shoots.

EukerVoorn 12-02-2011 04:55 PM

Cherry, when declaring for your income tax you have to describe your activities. If you have a production company in Hungary and write "video production" on your tax form, maybe the tax people will ask you to specify "video production" in detail. One could then lie and pretend one does cinema production or fashion but we all know what happens to the tax people and they find out you're lying, right? You'll be double fucked then. And it is easy for the tax people to determine from your financial books whether you're doing porn, because we really do use products that only porn producers use, like dildo's, ky jelly, tons of kitchen rolls, laxatives (scat producers like me use tons of that), and some other things.

ThumbLord 12-02-2011 05:06 PM

move your company outside Hungary.
help needed?
get in touch my friend

Radik 12-02-2011 05:09 PM

Someone should tell them there is no money left in porn.. Just gonna hammer your industry out of existence in Hungry. Sorry to hear this :( jobs are important.

youdeserve 12-02-2011 05:21 PM

Cause...

Main causes:
- the catholic coalition party, who jointly governs Hungary
- getting all the pennies they can, because of the financial crisis

I wonder, why you, my fellow hungarians don't mention more frequently that out VAT will be 27% from jan 1st AND that the average tax payed by taxpayers on their wages is about 70-80%. Yes, the taxpayer sees about 50% deduction, but the employer also pays around 30%... Well known fact, that legally employ someone here in Hungary costs a lot. For instance, giving someone 200.000 HUF (which is around 600 Euros nowadays, and IS a lot of money here...) costs about 370.000 - 390.000 HUF to the employer. The average pay is 120.000 HUF btw.

So, illegaly employ someone is a good and reasonable option for most.

The treasury gets then less money. Because not much paying the taxes, because these are high (latest stat: 2.9 million taxpayers, 30-40% of them are on the minimum wage - almost no taxes payed at all, out of 9.9 million), so new ways needed to be found to raise money.

Porn tax is one option. More to come...

Barry-xlovecam 12-02-2011 06:53 PM

Taxing porn legitimizes porn -- this will not happen in religiously suppressed nations.

Interesting conundrum -- seems like a losing position from all angles.

adultchatpay 12-02-2011 11:28 PM

25% on tax is skyhigh. Client's will have to pay for it in the end.

Never have the tax authorities in the UK asked what sort of films we make, and why would they ? It has nothing to do with anything.

If they taxed right wing films and not left wing films? How would they tell?

This story smells like a politician making some news... nothing more.

Maybe they will tax adult products, but not production, and not even possible to tax foriegn productions....

This is how government fucks the people :1orglaugh
