Those were the days (of business on this board)
I remember some time ago when this board was humming with opportunities, questions to be answered and business to be done.... what happened?

Hello Mitch :drinkup

A lot of good people got banned because of little bitches crying to the mods.

There's biz

i have bought three scripts posted here for over 1500 usd, that is still some business to be made imho. but true not so much contest threads anymore
|
Haven't done business in this place in years.
It was good when I was referring people to new dating programs but that died. |
They banned people for having a "Go Fuck Yourself" attitude to pretty it up for Playboy.
They locked down registrations and made people contact an admin that never answered ICQ to post or even read the forums. Half of the industry left because they swore "I will never do business with tube sites or anyone that does business with tube sites!" (See Steve Lightspeed) Some old timers quit focusing on making money and instead decided to grrrrrr get even with those dirty porn leachers by suing them. Some card bangers bought up a lot of good programs right at the peak then abused the fuck out of their customers and the webmasters that sent those customers. The economy exploded a few different times sending many back to work. Aside from a few programs are still doing the same things they were doing in 2004 even though the landscape is completely different. Adapt or die was never more fitting. A surprising number of affiliates that have been here for years still have no understanding of how this industry works, even the basic stuff. Epassporte probably squashed a lot of third world webmasters and definitely squashed a lot of those that chose to hide their cash for one reason or another. Certain people attack those that are successful here to the point that they make entire threads unreadable, killing further discussion. P.M. especially loves doing this, see his lectures to Shap. A couple of companies bought up a lot of programs taking a lot of 'important' figures out of the industry and off of the boards. There's probably a few more reasons but I'm tired. |
Tubes....

People move on,always changing,it is adapt or die,dog eat dog out there

cross sales, new regulation just pushed them into a darker corner. Banging cards, tubes etc.

anyway good summary. |
Lots of good explanations here. Times have changed a lot that's for sure.
I use to surf the boards daily but now I find it more productive not too. |

Plus people lie when trying to fling abuse, like stocktrader. This board reflects the industry, it isn't anything else but a reflection of an industry changing. Most of the good guys have gone or going, many have to work hard. Leaving a few no no nick clowns. |
Good old days,i miss them !
|
it all went down with the tubes, who knows what else will go down with .xxx :)

Probably because half the threads have nothing to do with the adult industry, DVTimes etc posting unrelated news articles constantly
It gets tiresome having to weed through that amount of shit on a daily basis |

Other card processors offer low rates around 4% as well. Those who think they can still charge 8% or more will all be out of business soon... call it suicide. |

we are talking about right and wrong here...not bulls shit risk department red tape which can be used to steal from hard working creative small biz owners... You do see whats happening, and you have some obligation to help right the wrong |
There was a time when I could launch a program and within 2-3 weeks have 1500 new affiliates sending me traffic. Those days are long gone. The times they have a changed Senor Farber.

There were times when I could shoot a girl off a casting and make $6,000 clear for 30 minutes work. Those days are long gone. Killed by you being more worried about getting 1500 new affiliates, than keeping customers buying. By giving into 1500 new affiliates demanding so much free content they killed 90% of themselves. People hate me for telling them the truth. I love that. :thumbsup |
With hindsight it's clear to see why online porn has declined as fast as it rose.
The rise was very much matched by the decline of offline porn sales. The claims that millions now could access porn who were previously denied was wrong. Those "previously denied" had magazines or were in countries where they could buy DVDs. What ever actual growth there was, wasn't what many claimed. What ever we are all guessing. The "millions" some claim to have made, were just tapping into an existing wealth. Do not look to the manufacturing end of porn for an idea of the porn market. Look at the retail end, the shops, the phone companies. Those serving the end user, not those serving the retail end. Then the desire, by sponsors, of getting affiliates at all cost. Building a massive, expensive wall between the buyer and the seller. What ever affiliates demanded was seemingly given. The lowering of standards of the product. Say what you like, few sites reach the top levels of porn. Most of it is churned out cheap rubbish. I'm talking the level that Perfect Gonzo was, Alsscan, Met Art, Party Hardcore. Mostly because no one was able to spend or would spend the money required. The ease of getting into the online porn business. At the bottom all you needed was a computer and Internet connection. You wouldn't make a fortune, but you could be one of Eric's 1500 new affiliates demanding lots of free content to submit to TGP sites. The saturation of the supply side meant a smaller slice of the cake for everyone. The cake never grew as fast as was required to accommodate the growth of people wanting a slice out of it. Scum were able to rise to the top. In all sorts of ways, cross billing, card banging, misleading tours, etc. And for everyone of them they had "1500" affiliates sending them traffic. To get a slice of the scam cake. Then cheap BW. Was the nail in the coffin. So now free is so much better than buying for our former customers. Yes Manwin may have 20, 40, 60 million hits a day. but it converts at the worse level ever. Because buyers have learned paying for porn is a mugs game. Still a few more years to wring out a few more dollars and if you keep your costs very low. you'll be fine. Or if it's a part time job, fine. But don't listen to me. Listen to the no nicks fools working from home. |
