International law requires all porn sites to have a .xxx URL ending
Do you think it will happen?
We all know already how ignorant most of the general public is. Just recently the public was led to believe that a school teacher "hosted" a pornographic website from her school's laptop computer. Maybe there was some pictures stored on the computer but I doubt that the website was "hosted" from it. There was also a man accused of browsing child pornography while flying on an airplane. Do you seriously think anyone could be that dumb? So what would it take to convince the general public that .xxx should be a requirement for adult web sites? I don't think it would take much convincing at all. Being a gun advocate I'm glad to have the NRA fight for my rights to own firearms. But who's going to fight for our rights as an adult industry. Should we be segregated from the rest of the public? Quote:
I reluctantly came along into the world wide web in the late 90s after the downfall of online BBS. I have NEVER "accidentally" wandered into a porn site. So how long until a petition like this becomes a new law? http://www.causes.com/causes/179734-...children/about |
Who cares if the general public thinks it's the law? They will type in the wrong domain TLD and then see it's not working. Re type it with .com at the and and find it work.
This is the type in traffic, the rest follow links. |
DVTimes??? You log-in with the wrong nick?
|
I'm pretty sure that's always been the end-game for .xxx proponents.
|
The sooner the better. Lets just get it over with.
|
Yes, I'll probably be buying some .xxx domains myself. It's not that big of a deal to me. But I don't think it's right to be forced into it. And I do foresee this happening.
I remember this topic about five years ago. There was a lot more resistance from the industry. But I guess now the majority agrees with it. |
Does anyone suspect a mole?
|
What is international law?
|
After that the next issue will be "family friendly" ISPs blocking xxx alltogether.

Yeah I'm sure the UN is all over it. Violated will be prosecuted in The Hague!
I seriously wonder how some of you manage to get through the day and remember to continue breathing. |

Seriously? All I have seen is resistance to xxx, just not a whole lot anyone can do to stop it from being approved now. But very few have come out to say they'd be buying those domains. That petition you showed was started in 2008 and has raised an OMG whopping $789.82 in that time. I don't think there is much of a threat of xxx being required for our industry under international law. But there is a miniscule chance it could become US law at some point in the future |

didn't a few countries ban .xxx?

move to .XXX or receive a strongly-worded letter from the U.N.

The reason why, for example, hardcore Manga is becoming illegal nearly everywhere is because of a UN treaty. |

They'll try their best to force us all to .XXX by using all types of dirty tactics and lies
Think of the children! Force all adult sites on to triple-x domains, says Family First Fortunately, we've got Manwin on our team Porn sites (Manwin) sue internet regulator over .xxx web address |

We are so screwed.

this is technically a non sense.
You can use ips instead of domain. |
Try this, it is a porn website, it is illegal, there is no xxx extension:
209.222.138.10 These extensions ARE USELESS (and worthless) This is only a fucking troll to sell expensive domains extensions... |
And now, paste this in your address bar and push on ENTER:
http://3521022474 You don't need a domain name to make a website work, you can anyway access to it without using a domain name (whatever you own or not a domain name) So all these stories are just a bunch of crap. So now stop this shit. |
The problem with moving "all" porn sites is... how do you define what a porn site is?
If 5% of youtube's vids are adult in nature, does that mean they're a porn site? I can see plenty of governments blocking XXX sites, but I can't see how you would mandate that adult sites move to that TLD. |

what the fuck is an international law

The take up will be interesting and then the effect on traffic and the further effect on sign ups. |
that would be ultra stupid to do it...
|
Quote:
India for example is already on record saying the will block all .xxx sites |
There would be much less easy access to porn if they enforced copyrights instead.

Yeah, "international law", OP is indeed a funny guy! |

anybody inside this industry who supported and aided .XXX becoming a reality is a fucking scumbag who should be ostracized.
it's a real concern that countries could make it illegal/criminal to operate adult content sites on anything but .XXX domains. it would be an easy argument for religious and family values types - just like cities have zoning by-laws that restrict where adult entertainment establishments can operate. then it could be followed by ISP's getting the idea to by default not include access to .XXX domains to their customers and charge them extra if they opt in for .XXX access. the .XXX scam is pretty brilliant i will admit. |

This will get messy with IPv6 (coming soon) |
It's coming. The Clintons supported and Bill Clinton signed into law COPA, CDA, CDA II ... They are still powerful, heck she's secretary of state and was nearly president. The Supremes wouldn't let them outright ban porn, no matter how many times they tried. How does anyone think they AREN'T angry about thrice being denied a porn ban and won't go for the next best thing, forcing free speech that's "not appropriate for children" into the .xxx ghetto.
Heck just this year, in May, Clinton suggested a US censorship board to censor news on the internet: Quote:

Hahahhahahhaha!

That and more was two months ago. In October, the UK prime minister announced that when you sign up for internet service you'll now have to explicitly opt-in to have access to any "inappropriate content". So you actually have to call them and basically say "I'm a perv" or you're limited to only what regulators feel is family friendly. |
Move your porn site to international waters to be safe. Our state of the art hosting barge has you covered. No pesky laws to worry about. We're constantly on the move to stay safe from Somali pirates, rouge waves and more.

Basically, you need a web server to make a website and NOT a name server. And google and enter "porn" in gg image or gg video. Do you think they will start to censor their result or redirect them to google.xxx ? that's stupid. bing.xxx ? "Yeah, microsoft is now in porn, it is written...." That's only crap to sale an useless shit. http://ts1.explicit.bing.net/images/...=1335140483648 Some powerful companies have money to lose... so fuck xxx And yeah, porn is not the same thing here as in Saudi Arabia. This is porn according to saudi arabia: http://www.styleite.com/wp-content/u...hmannthumb.jpg Nice hairstyle, isn't it ? |

also if countries wanted to localize it they could force national domain like: .xxx.de .xxx.us .xxx.fr .xxx.jp but none of the countries did that... not even most conservative ones... |
Quote:
There's always sealand... but I'm not sure they're offering hosting any more? |
There's an entire web hidden from most people... only accessible via TOR.
It would be fairly easy to set up a pr0n site on TOR, but it would need to be fully self contained, since the govt would just block the paysite you referred traffic to (if you were an affiliate), or third party biller... |
