rss feed creator for html page? (site news etc)

hi

does anyone know of either a script or good free hosted rss feed generator that can be used on a html website? so that latest site news etc can be available via an rss feed?

this is for a site of a friend, what i'm looking for is a frontend where he can write the site news, which will display say in the sidebar but also this site news will be availble via an rss feed.

is he using a cms like wordpress or joomla etc?

where he is writing news? and just wants an addon, or is it only going to be feeds?

no cms, it's just a straight html site, so he just want's a little script that he can embed in the side bar to display latest news, but that he can write the latest news preferabbly via some sort of front end as he has no web skills whatsoever, and this news needs to be available via rss feed as well.

sounds like he needs wordpress or something database driven, unless he wants to mess with code every time or use something clunky that's text file/javascript based

yeah wordpress would be easier but too much work converting the currrent design to a wordpress theme
