he was definately a fancy boy in this one.... Phoenix was borderline.... but he had some redeeming moments, like when he was bashing the fuck outta that thing with the baseball bat....

Well were all intitled to our own opinion, but i thought that movie was so lame. And Mel Gibson kinda sucked.

He played it right. The guy was an ex-preacher, we don't want a total hard-ass. I think the film was well orchestrated.

I liked it...it creeped me out at the right times...Gibson DID play a relaxed character, but he WAS supposed to be beaten down due to his loss of faith and loss of wife. Plus, he WAS a 'role model' for two small children. I thought it was well done, altho I DO think there are times when directors cast themselves in movies when they shouldn't...(Yes, Shyamalan, I am talking about YOU! LOL)

I'm OK with him playing a different kind of character here and there, but the only thing that bugged me was that they didn't grab a damn weapon! Not until the very end. I'm sorry, I don't care if he was a preacher. If green men are trying to storm your house and you know they can be held back by patio doors, you would grab a goddamned kitchen knife!

yeah, he was supposed to be a softy, but I'm getting sick of the mel gibson softy.

And while we're on the subject... does EVERY Mel Gibson movie have to have him recovering from his wife's death?

Why does everyone put actors in the primary role in making movies. I mean, it wasn't a "Mel Gibson" movie, it was a Shyamalan movie. Gibson played a role in a movie that somoene else conceived, wrote, and directed. Why compare this role to his other ones, it's not like he writes the stuff.

he's played alot of I've Had A Traumatic Past And Lost My Mind flicks too.... usually combined with the dead wife theme.

I think he played it right. I mean, in the story, considering that he was a Pastor, with kids, and a dead wife, I think his pussification was appropriate.
