Saw my first .XXX commercials last night

Really, really bad. I have to wonder whose bright idea it was to tie in bestiality with porn. Great marketing idea.

porno jew 11-28-2011 09:52 AM

you're a century or so away from their demographic.

These guys throw whatever they can at the wall to see what sticks. I'm guessing they have a plan B, C, D, etc. ready to go.

Sounds like a really bad idea, is it online somewhere ? I'd like to see those ads.

It could be very damaging for the adult industry in general to be tied together with illegal activities or if general assumptions are "branded" into peoples heads like that.

I started out in the 90s and during my first years I spend a lot of time explaining both the IRS, banks, accountants etc etc that it is a fully legitimate business.

These days I spend a lot of time working with telecoms and other regulatory bodies when trying to get adult transactions allowed explaining about the processes and that it is in fact a real business that there is a real need for. Imagine such 3rd world countries tried to research this and find these libelous statements saying if it's not on a .xxx extension they'll likely find bestiality porn or something like that.

That would be as if Joan Irvine went to Visa / MC and told them that if the website is not on a .xxx domain it's likely to contain content of models with a questionable age

I was blown away. It was if ICM is intentionally trying to make people think that if you want to get your dose of bestiality, .xxx was the way to go. Very irresponsible of them.

I can only guess it is because Lawley does not see a problem between adults and their livestock.

That part I'm fine with. Bestiality is legal is some countries so if it can be isolated into 1 area that would make it super easy for Visa/MC and other censuring governments and ISPs to block it all.

As long as they are not starting to make statements that their extension is the only "safe" place on the internet for porn

alias 11-28-2011 03:58 PM

Registered beastsex.xxx.

As bestiality is not legal in the US and the commercial was broadcast for the US (all English) I am not fine with it. I doubt you will find many in the US that are fine with bestiality just because some other country is cool with it.

Maybe a bad choice of words...

I don't care about it. It's about as interesting for me as watching the grass grow.

If they are visualized just register a domain in polk county or whatever place it is with the lunatic sherif that tries to shoot people over nipples and include an approved by ICAN / .XXX / Mcafee all over their advertisements :2 cents:

The easiest battles to win is those others are fighting for you :winkwink:

Was this part of the educational series from IFFOR ? I think they are setting the standards for the XXX domains ? Didn't really follow that too much but google showed me this article about it http://www.pimpspromo.com/icm-iffor-and-irvine/

Sex with animals is not illegal in every state.

Quote:

Zoosexual activity (bestiality) is officially illegal in 32 states. Zoosexual activity is a misdemeanor in the following states:[25]
Alaska[52]
Arkansas
California
Florida[53]
Iowa
Maryland
Maine
Minnesota
Missouri
Nebraska
New York
North Dakota
Oregon
Pennsylvania
Utah
Wisconsin
Zoosexual activity (bestiality) is a felony in the following states:[25]
Arizona
Delaware
Georgia
Idaho
Illinois
Indiana
Massachusetts
Michigan
Mississippi
Oklahoma
Rhode Island
South Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee[54]
Virginia
Washington
The remaining 18 states (and DC) do not have laws prohibiting zoosexual activity. Two states had laws against zoophilia that were declared unconstitutional by state courts and were subsequently invalidated: Montana and North Carolina.[25] In Kansas, a law against zoophilia was repealed.[25] In the District of Columbia, a law against zoophilia (listed under "sodomy") was repealed.[55]
Just thought I would point that out. :1orglaugh now ya know.

Some have been posted already in another thread. - I'm not sure what has aired vs. what is still waiting to be aired. Give me a bit of time to find out and see what I can provide links to.

The one where ICM Registry linked dotxxx to beastiality.

Ah, I see someone already posted sheep. There is another version, along with two others here: http://go.buy.xxx/

You can find an additional one here: http://vimeo.com/32790975

I'm honestly surprised at the reaction here to the ads. Everyone that I have personally spoken to that has seen them, thought they were quite entertaining.

They are also quite successful. Since the television ad campaign started in earnest this past Thursday, registrars are reporting a surge in pre-orders for General Availability on December 6th.

There was also a lot of interest in .mobi domains when the tld was first launched (and hyped). Now years later, .mobi turned out to be a total failure (the registry was taking massive losses and was eventually sold).

What is it, in your professional opinion, that makes .xxx different from .mobi?

Well, the people here are supposed to be your target audience. The people here are the ones you claim to be offering a product to. The people here are the ones that according to what you told ICANN need this tld.

i think vast majority of people in adult are generally opposed to the idea of .xxx period so you won't get much support here.

I personally thought a few of them were a tad tasteless.. you are running these on the history channel.

Guys shooting paper airplanes into a womans cleavage ? you think that gives a good impression to the general public about the adult industry ?

if these were running on the playboy channel or showtime or something might be more appropriate and get a funnier reaction.

anexsia 11-28-2011 06:33 PM

Can't wait until you can register .sucks domains, I'll be first to grab dotxxx.sucks

Why are you (I mean ICM) putting ads on general sites to reserve the domain extension. It's like selling skateboards to the elderly.

Shouldn't the ads be geared towards how great this new extension is so parents can know what to block from their childrens computers?

The commercial doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

So .xxx won't allow bestiality on their domains? So they will scan every page on every site every day for bestiality content? What's their plan? And why, bestiality is legal in quite some countries, who are they to judge what is good or bad.

What if next time they think fisting is bad, or even anal.

This is something to stay far away from.

Censorship is bad!

If you register a .xxx domain, you agree to follow their rules (whatever those are right now and whatever they may be in the future).

Dot XXX protecting the children by putting sex ads on the history channel.

Jesus, now that I'm on my computer for once and not my phone, I actually watched the video...

Let's see, bestiality? Check.
Making fun of black people? Check.
Making fun of homeless people? Check.

This campaign is so full of win.

I really hope people won't be stupid enough to fall for this.
They might come up with things like that everything that is not password protected needs to be censored/non-nude etc.

I would NEVER work with a domain extension that applies censorship.

You never know what their next step will be. What if you turn time and money into developing a site, and suddenly they find it too hardcore or whatever.

Legal statement received in an email:

"If you are interested in pursuing the allocation of any of the .xxx names that are reserved as a part of ICM Registry?s Premium Names program, we welcome you to provide us with an offer of price as well as a proposal as to what your plans are for the name. Please contact Vaughn Liley at [email protected] with that information."
