Rip DVD's for IPAD
Has anyone ripped DVD's they have and put them into Itunes to go on your iPad?
I have a shitload of DVDs and would like to have some on my iPad before I leave for vacation. Thanks in advance. |
Yes i have
if you are using a mac look for a program called handbreak |
I have a PC. Is this something that iTunes will not do? I know it does it for CD's. Why not DVD's?
Havent had the chance to try with iTunes yet because I am syncing ipad with new computer. Just incase someone asks me why I havent tried yet. I will check to see if they have a PC version. edit: Looks like they have it for Windows. http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php |
Looks like handbrake is working. Takes a hell of a lot of processor power though.
I have dual quad core Xeon and I am at like 85% usage. |
is there an app to save a webpage onto an ipad? in case there is no wireless somewhere?

It's probably faster to just download the xvids of the DVDs from thepiratebay instead of having to convert all of them. And since you already own the originals you don't have to feel bad about downloading.
Then download cinexplayer on your iPad (it's not free, but just a few bucks I think). It plays every movie format. Then you can copy the downloaded xvids trough itunes to your cinexplayer. Will be much faster than encoding all of the DVDs. |

http://www.instapaper.com/ You install a bookmark widget in your browser (PC or Mac) and when you are on a page but have no time to read it, you click Read Later and it will send it to your instapaper account. It will convert the webpage to a very nice easy to read format. When you start the instpaper app on your iPad it will import all the pages and you can read them offline. Many times while I am working and people send me interesting links, but I have no time to read it, I just press read later. And whenever I have time, or am traveling, I have all the pages to read in my instapaper. |

The rip from Handbrake did not work out so well. I believe it shut down on its own at about 80%, not sure if the dvd has a scratch or not. But the main issue is, when it closed, the video itself was like 6 GB. way to much.

is hawkeye still used ? thats what I use...

I dont want to pay twice for these DVD's, considering i purchased most of them for 4.99 or 3 for $10 at walmar and they are 10 each on iTunes. |

Sorry if I sound like I'm being a jerk, don't mean it that way, What people choose to use is up to them, I just don't understand why people choose ipads. I'm working on a new website and wanted to use alot of flash like in the header on my affiliate program. I went to lilcandycash on my friends ipad, and the space where the header is, is blank... So know I have to reconsider using this design because so many use apple...

I know a lot of people who have other tablets, xoom, hp etc. I have utilized them all. As I know android has just as many if not more apps that apple has. I feel the actual devices them selves arent made of the same quality. A lot of them seam very 'plasticy' when the ipad is metal and glass. The screen cracked one time and I went to apple and they gave me a brand new one for nothing. They said they only will do it once, but next time I will just go to a different store. I have friends who have done this over and over with cracked screens and never paid for a new one. This will not be the same case with other vendors. Where are you going to take your Acer? To the Acer store? I understand the flash argument. At this point. I think flash is not used as much as it once was in web site development, and any site that is big enough either has a version for the ipad or an App because they have too. I would suggest lilcandycash or whoever to make an ipad friendly version or they are sure to lose traffic. A good % of traffic these days is mobile traffic. and the fact of the matter is, iphones and ipads are huge. The websites have to conform with the device and OS. Not the other way around. Apple is big enough where it does not have to conform to the flash experience and no one will miss out because people make for it. This is just the reality |
but wasnt VLC Player for IPad removed?
I dont think you can get it anymore |

nope thats different...
the streamer acts a s a media server app. You can play whatever is on your pc direct to your ipad. I meant the stadalone VLC player. |
you don't need a player on your ipad unless you are downloading xvids or some non native (non h264) format from the net.
to convert your dvds... handbrake for PC, use the ipad preset but change one setting under video tab... change to target video size 700 mb and boom ... you got native h264s at 700mb a dvd for the ipad. depending on how picky about quality you can prolly drop it down to 500mb to save some space. |
