BUFFALO, N.Y. — An embattled New York foreclosure law firm that was criticized for a Halloween party that mocked the homeless and was recently shunned by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will close.

Firm spokesman Earl Wells confirms it will shut down completely. In a statement, Baum says the firm will fulfill its remaining work.
Christmas has officially arrived early!

It's like a twilight zone episode. Imagine in the dead of winter on a NY street you come across these fucking bitches...and it's real! :1orglaugh

Last month, the firm agreed to pay $2 million amid federal scrutiny, and its practices are being investigated by the New York attorney general.

Jail time? I think you are reading a little too far into an "investigation." Unless something shady was going on behind the scenes, what would anyone be sent to jail for? Being indecent people?

I agree with the other poster. They will reopen under a different name, some different key people, and life goes on. People don't just close down their operations willingly, particularly when they are making money.

Dude, its got nothing to do with the party- they are being investigated by the NY attorney general.

Good god I have to wonder about reading comprehension skills on this board.

You're just now wondering about that? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

But yeah I read the story too, then did a little research, then made my first post in this thread.

Research:

The website for the law firm that is closing ( Steven J. Baum, P.C - mbaum.com ) is registered by Pillar Processing LLC: "a leading provider of business process outsourcing services to the default management sector of the residential mortgage industry."

The LLC and the law firm have the same address. The LLC was hiring this September for a new Administrative Assistant. Click the link to see the ad.

The reason I posted that they will open as a new entity is because CorporationWiki shows that Pillar Processing LLC is a managing member of Pylon Process Services LLC in Florida.

No big deal right? Wrong.

Click the "career listings" link at the bottom of the Pylon Process Services LLC homepage.

What do you see? The ad from Pillar Processing LLC for an administrative assistant :winkwink:

Now go post that on the Huttington Post and leak it to the press, because they don't know yet. Seriously, make a difference and leak the info.

And just to add cement to my find, you'll see that this Florida corporation info page shows that Pylon Process Services LLC was created 8 months ago and at the bottom you see that Pillar Processing LLC is the managing member.

My reading comprehension is just fine thank you :thumbsup

Does not matter, the cat is out of the bag. Anyone associated with this firm will be scrutinized and any "new" firms that suddenly pop up will be heavily scrutinized.

I am going to take a wild guess and say that the NY attorney general is a little more savvy than you as to the inner workings of this company;)

And you forgot to mention that now a U.S. House committee is also looking at them.

If you think any of these employees are going to sneak into another operation after this fiasco you are sadly mistaken.

I just posted proof that they already have, and the first words in response to my post were "Does not matter" :eek7

Man...wow really? Look, any company they get into is going to be scrutinized, they have both state and federal eyes all over them.

It's amazing you are not getting that simple concept. When you try to pull shit in the middle of getting pounded in an investigation like this, you cannot hide.

why haven't you posted it to HP?

And here's a little bit o' research for you-
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505245_1...costume-party/
Quote:

Baum's press release did not mention Pillar Processing LLC, which had been owned by Baum and affiliated with the firm until being spun off. The document processing business shares office space with Baum and depends on it for business.

The Buffalo News, citing an unidentified Pillar employee, said workers there had been notified of a shutdown by the end of February, affecting 600 workers. Pillar did not immediately respond to an Associated Press request for comment.
Pillar Processing LLC. Hmmm what do you know?

But of course the NY attorney general and the Feds aren't going to be able to follow a trail this clandestine:1orglaugh

They can run, but they can't hide...

Nice, you found my AP article.

As you can see my first post here was 12:25pm after research this AM and article completion, submitted my article to AP headquarters 12:40pm - Brian Melley LA Bureau news editor [email protected], AP posted 1:20pm , safe to post my facts here 1:27pm. Nice to be on the edge of breaking news :winkwink:

Research and action makes a difference. Nice to see you did a little research yourself after initially saying it doesn't matter.

and if you're still reading this post is sarcasm. I am not a reporter, the story isn't mine, but I am on the edge of breaking news

Caligari 11-21-2011 05:56 PM

And it still doesn't matter if they try to bury themselves in a hundred other entities.

You see, what's unusual about this case is that the story about these sociopathic douchebags circled the globe a few times and ended with such a public outcry (including physical protesting at the Baum offices) that the local authorities and the feds had no choice but to come down on them like a ton of bricks.

Normally a case of fraud like this would get a little press and go away.

Not this time.

Baum, Pillar Processing and whoever else involved will be the royal whipping boys of state and federal government who are eager to make an example of them.

And btw, that ad from Pillar Processing LLC for an administrative assistant...which one of those 89 sacked sociopaths you reckon is going to get that job?
Funny they had to place an ad :winkwink:
