Just got back from Zucotti Park...

I've never seen a bunch of well-organized, intelligent, thoughtful, generous, educated, motivated group of individuals in my life.

Some people called them dirty hippies, but I saw people who cleaned up after themselves more than any average person walking down a public street.

Some people called them criminals, thugs, bums and the like, but I saw people who showed more self-restraint and respect than those in uniforms who surround them.

Some people called them unemployed and lazy, but I saw professionals who just got done working to come join the occupation until they had to sleep/work again.

What a great group of patriots that make me proud to be an American :thumbsup

He must have been to the *other* Zucotti park. The one I went to and took some pictures at didn't resemble the group he is describing

Does the average person leak old engine oil or something?

Not this time. I plan on going back either Tuesday or Wednesday night and camping out for a few nights myself. I'll bring my camera.

It's so easy to ignore the core members of this movement and the good they are doing. All of the bad you posted isn't condoned by the movement and if anything as simple as a fight breaks out the member who initiated it is ejected from the group. They police themselves and do a fine job.

Here's the thing, the people who understand this movement won't be put off by a few media stories that pick out some bad apples and try to associate the movement with them. Hell, the media doesn't even cover the movement unless they can spin some story that makes the protesters look bad.

So, post your links and let the usual fools pat you on the back. The movement is growing, and as much as you hate it and wish it would go away, it won't.

We settled for the immediate target -- the Vietnam War.
There were larger issues left unresolved and they are again at the core of the current problem.
We only finished part of the job ...

Exactly what good have they done so far?

Besides causing ton of police and other resources to be wasted on it....

WASHINGTON -- A lobbying firm has prepared a memo offering advice to its Wall Street clients to help them manage any political fallout from Occupy Wall Street, warning that Republicans may turn on big banks, at least in public, altering the political ground for years to come. It is one of the first clear signs that the movement may be starting to trouble the moneyed elite.

Police Response To Occupy Wall Street Is Absurd

[B]y and large, Occupy has been a peaceful affair. Certainly pepper-spraying protesters while they sit calmly in a row like this is a gross abuse of power. It should have our collective blood boiling, whether or not we even agree with the protesters themselves. What was meant to be a protest against economic equality quickly morphs into a protest against the police state. ...

*** on second thought -- this is simply revealing.
