Question to anyone who quit their (W2) job

To anyone who ever quit a full time job that had good benefits, did you negotiate any deal with your employer?

For example, left over vacation days, health insurance, partial severance?

I started working for this company a while ago as a consultant, then they bribed me with benefits, etc to be full time. Made that mistake now looking to walk away, but also trying to do so, so it benefits us both. They don't like that I don't work in their office and I cost them a lot of money. I heard from other people that "my time is running out" so Id rather work something with them then sit around and wait for the call.

I figured its best to discuss an exit strategy with them to secure the vacation days I have saved up and get a few months of health insurance then just giving them the finger and walking away.

At the end you should get paid for the vacations days, etc. As far as your health insurance COBRA will kick in. I don't understand what you're trying to work out now, it should have been done before you started. You can start negotiations to extend your contract.

I have left a few jobs I had been at for a little while in the past. If you have vacation days coming it is pretty standard that most places pay you for those. Many companies also pay you for sick time you have left. One place I worked at didn't pay for sick time, but my manager did arrange for me to be "sick" for a few days after I gave my two weeks notice so that I could use that time up.

As far as severance goes, most places I have heard of don't give it to you when you quit the job unless it is in a contract. The same goes for benefits likely they are gone when you leave.

If you have a 401K or some kind of retirement you can take that with you.

Let them fire you and collect your 40 weeks of unemployment while working your own shit on the side.

just walk or wait for the shoe to drop. they owe you the vacation days either way. the health insurance i can't see that "benefiting" them unless you give up some money either in your vacation hours or pay....it that's even legit

When I left my telco job, I received all of my vacation/personal time/ etc in a lump sum check withing 2 weeks or my resigning (decided to go into adult full time). I also ended up cashing out my pensions/401k or whatever they were at the time. I had some money that was left from union years, and the other remaining management.

It was a decent chunk o' change all things considered.
