Wordpress Themes: You like custom or a reused template?

I am working on a wordpress template at the moment and just got me thinking if most people prefer custom work or rather just grab a basic template and fill it in with their content and never look back?

Personally, reused themes are usually so heavy with code that I prefer streamlined and doing my own work.

Whats your preference?

I use Thesis or Platform Pro frameworks and build off of those.

everytime i think im cool for coding something old school and by hand, i then see something like that LOL

i like custom made only for special sites if i am building any, but for like regular affiliate sites, i would get the regular ones but which suits my requirement.,

most times i modify the shit out of the themes.,to suite my needs.,

thesis is also a gr8 framework.

Platform Pro is like Wordpress Framework for Dummies. I love it. :1orglaugh

There are a few similar frameworks you can check out. Genesis is another one. There might even still be a few free ones out there.

i guess theres a few angles here we crossing.

1. for personal use.
2. client work.

i was speaking more in regards to the latter but its all relative.

candyflip 11-18-2011 07:32 AM

I do pretty much the same thing, personal or client.

I've been tweaking available templates. Some are easy some not. I'm going to check out Thesis, Platform Pro and Genesis to see what they're like.

I charge anywhere from $200 to $1500. Depends on the requirements obviously.

And if I know you have money to spend, you're going to pay a bit more.

I have been selling and then outsourcing mainstream blog design services for a few years now.
