Live From Daryl's House
Wow I just discovered this
http://www.sqvirtual.com/img/lfdh3.jpg Daryl Hall has a place in the country that is really cool, on a large pond with a performance area that looks out onto the pond with beautiful hills in the background. He invites old music buds to play in a make shift band with himself live on the net once a month. This vid is the reason this thread exists. Must see. Fantastic stuff. This is from March 15, 2011. This sounds so good and it is great to see Todd Rungren is still getting it done. Makes me want to grow my hair out again like I was 15 seriously. :) Among those who have been by since it started in 2007: Smokey Robinson, Nick Lowe,Todd Rundgren, Jose Feliciano and The Doors’ Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek. http://www.livefromdarylshouse.com/ or http://www.lfdh.com/ sweet http://www.sqvirtual.com/img/lfdh5.jpg im watching these the first time too :) http://www.sqvirtual.com/img/lfdh4.jpg dh had some pretty good stuff this shows the front of Daryl's place, John Oats looks a bit rough and yes he does look like baba booey altho booey may be better looking hehe but we cant all be pretty He has a new album out that is pretty good. Heard him on Stern recently. Looking pretty good for a 65 y/o guy now (Oct 1946). http://www.sqvirtual.com/img/lfdh1.jpg this is good, everyone in the front yard http://www.sqvirtual.com/img/lfdh2.jpg this is his new hit song off his new album Good stuff Maynard :thumbsup Daryl Hall rules :D |

He was on Howard Stern the other day trying to promote his show.

Thanks for the bump man :) Can anyone name the guy in the middle of Rungren and Hall who plays lead guitar? Very tight. Drummer is also very tight. :) As is the bongos player.
I've always like Todd Rungren's stuff so this was kind of a treat. Daryl Hall is really the "soulfulist" guy we white boys have. :) Fucken guy is still good. :thumbsup |

Awesome thread Vjo!!! :thumbsup
Todd Rundgren is one of my favorite musical artists and producers. I'm not surprised to see him there, since Todd Rundgren produced albums by Hall and Oates back in the 70's. ADG |
Hey ADG! Thanks! Yeah I knew a few guys would like this. Hard to believe DH is 65. Guy sounds pretty good when he is warmed up.
And Todd really looks good. Still on the circuit it looks like. Great hair. Fucken love it. I posted all the songs I could find with Todd. Couple more I would like to hear but I Saw The Light is a treat. BTW we are both still up :stoned for goodness sake. :) Hard at work. :) |
It's important to me, for you to know that you're free...

This video is the first time I saw the Runt on TV (one of the first songs I ever dedicated to a girl): :stoned ADG |

Yeah I am too lazy to find out the guitarist but he, the bass player and espec the drummer and the whole band are very tight with the orig song. Good to see young musicians pounding out Rungren. Love it! http://www.sqvirtual.com/img/lfdh1.jpg Amazing house. Looks like it might have a complete solar roof and love the way it slopes. Rock star living! lol I keep listening to I Saw The Light. Lots of energy and good Karma flowing from that :thumbsup May all my viewers receive the blessing! :) |
Sounds great and superb views!

Thanks CH :thumbsup Thanks all :) When I seen those 3 (still dont know the name of the middle guitarist) in front of that backdrop playing that song, it had to be a thread. http://www.sqvirtual.com/img/lfdh7.jpg Should have left the comment out about John Oats. He dont look that bad. :) I blame Howard :) And one caption out of place. Otherwise fun thread. http://www.sqvirtual.com/img/lfdh6.jpg And ya know what? It broke a terrible dry spell lately (worse in a couple years - it's long term ratios, ALL longterm ratios.. keep telling yourself that ;) ) and I busted loose. I told ya, good vibes :) I mean if some of that "spread" Todd has doesnt rub off on to us... hehe :) http://www.sqvirtual.com/img/lfdh9.jpg Looking for the name of the guitarist.. still no go. Also where is Daryl's House? His place is obviously less spectacular. I think I heard him say upstate New York. We all should have friends like Todd Rungren to visit. :thumbsup http://www.sqvirtual.com/img/lfdh10.jpg aloha :thumbsup :) |

Edit: Actually Benjy is really good. Love when he goes out and interrupts stuff. Howard is the master planner but he needs younger people at this point to get down in the nitty gritty. But still a really good show all in all. Hi Fred. Don't ya love Fred :) And love when David Arquette comes in. The guy is good like fine wine with guests. Nowhere else and noone else. Love HSOD too :thumbsup |
You're a fuckin kook :1orglaugh

Was never a fan of Hall & Oates, but this is pretty good stuff. Thanks!
I think Neil Young used to do something like this at his place, where they played "to the lake" and he had like floating speakers for monitors etc... real nature-hippie-rock bliss stuff. I may have even heard a bootleg at one point, but I'm not sure. If there is one, I'd love to find it... :D |
I used to watch that on KTLA (That's L.A., right? Maybe it was on the Chicago channel...) until I cancelled the cable I never watched. It was good seeing Daryl Hall sing again after thirty years. Stopped me in my tracks, that show did.
Both Neil Young and Arlo Guthrie (and probably others) held regular "concerts" at their homes. I don't think they were ever televised, though. Recorded, yes. Broadcast, well, they probably need a LOT of signatures to releases that content. And so far I have not been asked. |
They sound so tight
