Brian Bradley

AKA "Astro"

I think he's dominating the entire X-Factor competition at this point. Rock solid out of the gate.

Can a rapper win America's votes though?

That dude is good - really good. Especially for such a youngster.

I'm kinda liking Drew, another youngster. But I like Leroy Bell too :Oh crap

I know better around the city honestly, though he is pretty good. No lie

Not feeling it, but I am not into rap or novelty acts so much...personally, I think BMB has more talent (he's a damn good poet, in addition to being a good shooter). :2 cents:

Never watched X-Factor, but that video reinforces why I don't watch overly contrived reality shows.

Happened to hear one of his raps last week. Really good for a 10(?) year old, but in the general rap field, not impressive.

Funny how L.A. Reid thinks the kid is the cats meow but nobody here seems to think much of him.

As far as knowing better people around the city...IMHO, if they don't put themselves out there like this kid did, they don't deserve to be considered as better or even equal to. :2 cents:

I doubt he will win the show, but he should. If you haven't seen each of his performances, especially compared to the others on the show, then you really can't offer much of a valid opinion.

well, that's because LA Reid knows whats going to sell units. And in that, he is absolutely right. You don't have to be the greatest if you have a hook, like being a kid. I respect him for going for it AND showing up... lots of 10 years olds would pee themselves with stage fright.

Sorry I wasn't comparing him to the rest of the cast, just as rapper himself. Perhaps he's the best in the show but not the best kid rapper ever (that I can form a valid opinion on). Unless what I heard was his worst performance on the show...

The only business dirtier than the jizz biz is the music biz.

Shows like X-Factor, are mostly filled with schlock. The competitors sign away their soul to be on those shows, and in the end they are nothing but disposable products cranked out by the music labels.

Kudos to Cowell for building a show around A&R development, which plays upon peoples "dreams", by providing the illusion of a legitimate talent show. The syrupy back stories, and fake drama (putting on obviously untalented dolts for the audience to throw tomatoes at, and such), is a total turn-off to me. I would rather watch a street performer, or support my local bands, than support the mostly banal crap that Simon Cowell peddles.

Quote:

American Idol had come under fire for maintaining what some claim to be total control of the careers of the contestants that sign with their company, 19 Entertainment.

The contract the contestants are required to sign gives Simon Fuller's company the right to oversee not just the recording deal for "American Idol" stars, but also control any merchandising, touring, sponsorship and movie deals.

It also gives the producer the right to "record any and all behavior of the contestant "in and in connection with the series" and use the contestant's likeness, voice and any or all biographical material, whether true or false, any way they want to", and forbade the contestants to reveal anything about the show where any breaches of confidentiality can result in damages assumed to be in excess of $5 million.

I would rather put my entertainment money into the pockets of local musicians that play their own instruments and write their own music, than support the false dreams and tripe that Simon Cowell and his ilk make bank off of.

Think about it. Many of the "Top Stars" like Britney, Justin (pick one), Drake, etc., are really nothing more than carefully crafted brands/products, and have been since they were little kids. Nothing but mindless pablum for the masses.
