Thats sucks but I hate it when a guy or girl has tons of perfume on. Specially if I am running on the threadmil and they are next to me. Can hardle breath.

we have a guy who plays bball with us weekly...i thought he had bad bo...but it turns out...he is single, and keeps his basketball clothes in his car, wears them several times..lol

That's a tough one tbh, if you approach him, he'll be embarrassed as fuck, assuming he has no idea. If you leave an anonymous note on his windscreen or smth like that, same thing but he'll be mortified as he won't know who put it there.

What I'd probably do, is stick a notice up to the effect of 'it has come to our attention that gym users are complaining about the lack of personal hygiene of other members, please make sure you aren't one of the offenders by making sure you shower before arriving as well as after your session, and wear a fresh change of clothing each visit', in various places if need be.

Doesn't embarrass any one person, and is done in a friendly kind of way, where not only will it hopefully solve the problem, it shows all gym users it's a 'clean' environment.

If that doesn't work, welp, you're more than likely gonna have to take a more direct line.

Tell him to leave and go take a shower. Simple. Would you let someone in your business that just took a shit in his pants? There was an old fat orthodox jew lived in my building. He stunk so bad you would almost puke. One day he got in the elevator with me and some others. I stopped the elevator and told him to go upstairs, burn those clothes and take a damn shower. The older I get the less tolerance I have for shitheels.

I had to send a cam girl home once because the BO was so bad you could smell her throughout the offices. She never came back, even for her check.

Best answer. I don't work out, so I don't know, does showering before working out make much of a difference, given that you're all sweaty and all as soon as you start to work out?

just remember, if you find yourself in a gym and you see someone who looks exactly like you, dresses exactly like you and even moves how you move? You are probably looking into a mirror... ;)

Think about it this way... if you're out all day and you smell a bit when you come home, if you head to the gym without showering then you're going to smell bad already and THEN start smelling worse when you sweat.

If you take a shower beforehand you are likely putting on fresh deodorant/antiperspirant and you go in clean, meaning when you are done and sweaty it won't be as bad as if you were a dirtball beforehand.


I had to tell a deaf strip club customer one day that he smelled terrible. It was his third or fourth visit, and every time the girls had the same complaint. You could smell him across the bar (not the whole building but the bar itself), he wanted lap dances but the girls couldn't stomach the smell. I could barely handle it.

Him being deaf it wasn't an easy situation, I couldn't just walk up and tell the guy he stunk and he needed to leave. So after writing and throwing away about 40 notes on a bar napkin, collectively (the bar staff) we decided that it was simple to just flat out tell him to leave, take a look at his personal hygiene and come back another time. He came back about a week later and smelled fine. He wrote that he apologized and he didn't know he smelled bad. Something about an allergy to deodorant and that he found one of those stone things to use. He kept coming back and I've even seen him at other clubs and he's always been super friendly.


Sometimes you'll get the people that are completely embarrassed, other times they just don't know, or they just don't care.

If it bothers you and it's reoccuring, say something.

Don't pass it off to management unless you really have to, we are people too and we don't like doing it either.
