The Source magazine vs. Eminem

Lets face it...The Source sucks. More ads in that rag than Cosmopolitan.

Not that im a fan of XXL either.

In fact, a glance through ANY Hip Hop magazine will show how crappy the entire industry has become.

War of the hip-hop magazines
New York Times

NEW YORK For a rapper, there's no better way to make a name than through a battle, preferably a verbal one. But with the appearance of a two-sided poster in the February issue of The Source, the magazine regarded by many as the bible of hip-hop, it appears that rhetorical tussles aren't limited to rappers anymore. A cartoon depicts Elliott Wilson, the editor in chief of The Source's main competitor, the younger publication XXL, being crushed by a hulking monster wearing a Source T-shirt. Beneath the image is the warning "Respect the architect or get broken."
.
Wilson, a former Source editor who has taken pleasure in baiting his old employer, is shown acne-riddled and frail, wearing a basketball jersey with the phrase "Property of XXS." "When I see myself being broken in half in The Source magazine, I'm speechless," he said in an interview.
.
Wilson is in good company. The flip side of the poster features Raymond Scott, known as Benzino, a rapper and a co-owner of The Source, holding the decapitated head of Eminem, with whom he is engaged in a separate battle of words.
.
Now industry executives and rappers are taking sides, with Interscope Records pulling ads from The Source for Eminem's label and that of his mentor, Dr. Dre. Some fear that the animosity could reach a dangerous level, given past hip-hop battles that have culminated in violence.
.
"There's always beefs in magazines," said Nelson George, a critic and the author of "Hip Hop America," a cultural analysis and memoir. "It's no different from the rivalry between People and Us Weekly or Vanity Fair and Talk, but like everything else in hip-hop, it's just a little over the top." He described it as "the Algonquin round table gone berserk."
.
Forgoing the mores of the mainstream magazine world, where squabbles usually take place behind a public decorum, the editors of XXL and The Source are pummeling one another outright, with more than a few kidney shots delivered about personal hygiene and alleged sexual histories. They have also written raps of their own.
.
In a pungent editorial letter, Kim Osorio, the Source's editor, wrote, "Wishin' that they could be us so all they do is hate/ But the truth is they don't even come close to our rate base." XXL's circulation is 250,000. The Source's is nearly double, 476,000. The Source, started 15 years ago, has a loyal readership and its own televised annual awards. XXL, five years old, is just starting to gain recognition.
.
The rapper Nas says his own career-reviving squabble with the rapper Jay Z has made hip-hop battle-obsessed. "Everybody wants that sexiness," he said. "There's nothing more gangster than that at the moment." But George said: "It's one thing for a magazine to be feisty and another to be engaged in nastiness. This is nasty."
.
Shani Saxon, executive editor of Vibe, the urban music magazine that was founded by Quincy Jones and caters to an older audience, said, "I just hope things don't get out of hand."
.
Wilson, 32, didn't appear the least bit worried in a recent interview. Sitting in his dimly lighted, dorm-room-tight office, a bright yellow fight poster featuring Muhammad Ali and Ken Norton behind him, he was all smiles, giddy even. The latest issue of XXL had just arrived, and he was reveling in the cover, which features hip-hop's hottest trifecta: Eminem, Dr. Dre and the Eminem protégé 50 Cent. "This is going to sell like crack in the '80s," Wilson predicted. "We're increasing our print run from 400,000 to 600,000."

The fact that I find my news and it may be 5 months old does not upset me in the least.

What does upset me is that you seem to be a member of these Eminem Fan clubs.
