    Getting to spot 1 :)

Question for the gurus that rule the search results. What is the most important thing to remember when trying to reach spot 1 in big G? I'm assuming I'll get a bunch of fluff here or nothing at all but from those of you that actually post some real info and help out I thank you and I appreciate it very much so. Best regards!

Repeat the word "bamboo" several times on your pages, pandas love it.

Pick a search phrase no one else is going for?

If fluctuating on the front page for a result, time spent on site and returning visitors will set you apart from the rest. Make yourself sticky.

That's certainly the first thing that came to my mind.
Google "long tail". Several less competive phrases with top rankings can be better than struggling with one highly competitive phrase. Also, with several lesser phrases you don't have all your eggs in one basket.

Have you decided whether you are trying for long term results with maximum results for the effort, or high intensity effort for short term results? One general type of approach can get you at the top for some great keywords, for a few days, after a lot of effort. A different type of approach is used to consistently get "good" rankings that remain good for years, being little disturbed by tweaks to their algorithms.

For a quick "flash in the pan" short term boost, you're looking for "tricks". For long term results, you'll be more focused on allowing Google to recognize your quality pages.

            what he says ^^^

IMO, i always suggest to people who are starting to do some SEO efforts to pick 5 long tail key phrases than one larger one. the longer tails might not bring in as much traffic, but will be 10x easier to get better position for those terms so you can focus on other things, like making money from those visitors
