anyone done a comparison of promoting per sign up vs partnership sites?
is there a chart somewhere comparing the income from promoting a $35 per sign up program vs. a 50% partnership program?
|
Wait 4 months and you will see.
Providing the % has something good on the inside. Question is do you need quick cash or do you want to take a month off and still get your recurrs paying the bills. |
I still think recurring is the way to go as long as the sponsor keeps the up and up on fresh material.

pretty sure I'm going to do it, was just looking for a chart to see where I'd be 6 months from now. I dont need quick cash |

care to share it with me via email? I alway love building recurring with other sponsors [email protected] :) |
I like partnership proggies for many reasons....
one is if the owner has a good members area you will work harder cuz you will be making more bling in the end.... but a signup sponsor such as Adultplatinium can make you mad cash overnight if promoted correct! so its more about what you want and need as a promoter! |
I like recurring.. find a sponsor or start a site that retains and you're in the money.

My gut feeling is that recurring should give more on average, as by giving a fixed amount, the sponsor is taking a risk that the customer stays - and he should need some premium to compensate him for that risk.
Anyway I attempted to work out the answer to this based on my own very limited traffic, sign ups, and recurring income for January. I used a variety of sponsors - some per sign up, and some recurring. Out of my top 10 (ranked in $ earned by me per unique hit sent to them), there were 4 per sign up, 4 recurring and 2 email site sponsors. So my conclusion (based on in insufficient sample size but it's the best I have) is that it doesn't matter. Check my sig for more info. |
I know recurring is more in the long run...I'm just looking for a chart so I can compare numbers.

i still get $50 every couple months from something i promoted lightly back in 1998... heh.

A good partnership with exclusive content will beat any pay per signup in the long run.
Otherwise, most partnerships built based on the PPS model suck. (ie: Topbucks, etc.) |
Recurring all the way! :)

If I'm not mistaken Andy Dunn or a contributor to his newsletter created such a chart a few months ago. Url anyone?

Recurring Rocks!

Reccuring with 3rd party stats is nice
because you know its reasonably honest. When your per sign ratios go to 1:6000 or whatever you know the sponsor is getting some of his money back from prevous payouts. |
Really depends what you have on the inside... always make sure your sponsor has what they promise. :)

Hmmm, I'm surprised to hear so few voices proclaim their preference for PPS vs partnership. I've always found that I made more as an affiliate with PPS. The occassional surfer would recur for ages on a partnership, but the vast majority would cancel before the end of the trial or the first or second month, and I would get paid peanuts for my signup.
Now that I run my own partnership program, I'v gone through the math and our average affiliate makes about $27.50 per sign-up. But I have noticed a trend on the part of surfers to cancel and rejoin the site often - basically they come back every few months to get our updates of exclusive material. We have had some members join and cancel 8 times or more (for a month or 2 each time) in the 18 months of the site's existence. So I think our affiliates are not getting paid what each surfer referral is really worth (to us) with a 60% partnership program. So I have been considering switching our program over to a $28 - $32 PPS program (with productivity bonuses increasing the PPS rate), thinking that this would be much preferrable by our affiliates, and they would make more, and spread the word about our site and program. It would be one of a very few sites on the net that PPS but offer verifiable 3rd party stats so affiliates know there is no shaving at all. But this thread has me wondering if my assumption that PPS is much more desireable by affilaites is wrong. Hmmm. Or have 1:2000 conversions (reported conversions) on some PPS programs tainted people's opinions of PPS perhaps? |
Open Excel and do that Math yourself. PPS is the better choice in the short and long run.
Edited for this: PPS = $40 per trial signup. RevShare = 80% - 10% (estimated processing fees) = 70% 1000 signups in any given month. PPS = $40.00 x 1000 = $40,000 first month. RevShare variables: Trial Membership: $4.95 initial. Monthly charge at site is: $39.99 regular subscription. Conversion trial to regular: 30% Month to Month member retention: 80% At those rates it took 2 years (24 months) to get $45,206.64. With interest and investment on the initial PPS $40,000, you would probably have at least that amount in 2 years. Math and computations using Excel tables and forumulas. Revshare you also have to worry about chargebacks AND the sponsor or CC company staying in business for the full 2 years! Big risk these days if you ask me. This is with a 80% program too. |
we use partnership throughout our network, our recurring commissions are about 33% of new bills every month, so think of it like this:
Every month you receive a 33% compound rate of return on the previous months principle. If you do a bit of reading on compound interest (just like in investment), you might get so excited you can't stand still, Einstein called it the "greatest invention of mankind" :) |
Recurring. We pay u 60/40 on some very unusual sites. :)
|
blah, bottom line is that you make 2-3x more signups using a partnership so even if a trial gives you about $18-20, you make more money with 2.5 x $18-20 than 1 x $35
Most partnership give 60% on 100+ signups month... 100% - 15% processing = 85% - 60% to webmaster = 15% - 10% on content/bandwitdh, etc... you have 5% in your pocket. Do you seriously think the PPS pay you MORE than they make? Add the extra value of most partnerships: not overexposed like a bitch. |

This is what I was looking for. Thanks :thumbsup |
Recurring is good with smaller niche sites if you
send quality traffic that fits the niche. PerSignUp is great if the site promise alot and has a nice tour and even a free signup or trial for 2.95. www.legcash.com will be offering: 70% recurring - 15% fee = 55% recurring in the pocket, managed by multiple thridparty processors for security and backup joins. + $30 PerSignup processed on it's own merchant account but run through NetBillings reliable system. Just change a small part of the url to choose. There will be 4 new sites up: TEENS, AMATEUR, GENERAL + all the fetish sites that is there now. + Hosted Niche galleries included auto updated ones and rotaded galleries. The legcash site will be redesign with all the new features as soon as the new servers and programs has been installed and properly tested. All stats gathered together in one nice place for affiliates. |
i like PPS.. fast dough.
