Oakland Police tell Occupy Oakland protesters to "fuck off".
And by fuck off I mean "we support you".

And the plot thickens...

attacking a group of people providing medical assistance is a war crime under the geneva conventions
perhaps that police force would like to come to terms with that before saying 'we are apart of you' |

OWS Oakland is planning for a citywide strike Wednesday. It seems to me that this would hurt the 99% more than the 1%. But whatever.

If you also wanted Vendzilla, should have had this title : Oakland Police draw handguns and tell Occupy Oakland protesters to "fuck off". |

Are you not listening? This entire movement is about the banking industry and the financial damage it's done. So they are calling for a strike that will cost local businesses money and cause the 99% to lose a day's pay. That's fucking brilliant. |

America will be #1 again.

There was a story on CNN today that talked about how several cities have now decided to stop arresting these people. They felt having cops clash with them gave them what they wanted - free publicity. Now they are just going to let winter work on them and see how resolved they really are.

I think a lot of places are now going with the "hope they go away on their own" theory. I have a feeling the movement is here to stay. The question is will they be able to come together and actually exact some change like the tea party has or will they just make noise and nothing else. |
Quote:
Still, I agree with you in that they need to organize and actually get people elected or get things changed if they really want to effect change. |
Governments are backing off so the protests remain "non-violent." Better the OWS Protesters set up little Hovervilles than break windows and burn vehicles. Now, that is a real riot and can lead to open revolt. |

I also find the entire camping out on wall street etc not all that brilliant either. They should be camped out at the congressmen/senator offices, congress etc. Change will come about when their actions put pressure on the politicians in a more direct manner. Wall street and large corporations won't change what they're doing on their own. It has to be "forced" upon them by laws. The protesters should be giddy right now though.. One more wall street company going belly up because of their brilliant risky investments and it's looking like it may have stolen investor cash. |

I'll only comment that I was at the Hemp Expo / Cannabis Cup event in Oakland a few weeks ago, a trade event where thousands of folks and hundreds of booths were in the exact same area as the protesters are today. Coutless folks smoking marijuana literally on the police station's front steps and in the city hall plaza.
The Oakland PD was remarkably professional in dealing with us and earned much respect from me that weekend, because they stayed out of the event and kept a low, watchful profile on the perimeter. First class, IMHO. If they're having a problem now, it's probably not because of them... :2 cents: |
occupy philly called for a general strike for today at noon.
what's going to happen when, uh...........nothing happens? |
something should change, there is no need for such big corp greed

If you want someone dead have the balls to do it yourself, pinky. It's a lot cleaner and quicker. Wishing someone drank lye........jeez. And all this hate because someone doesn't share your political views. That's the left for ya. |

every group has its mentally broken examples.. i think they're just acting out what impacted them so deeply when this sort of thing could have mattered throwing out death 'wishes' and laughing at people from a position of anonymity makes everything rather transparent |

On a different note, Rochard sometimes you make good points, but when you start your post with something as inane as "your retarded" it makes you look silly for two reasons. First, such a sophmoric ad hominem suggests you have no real argument to support your position, and secondly, well your retarded. You'll figure that one out eventually. |
As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a clueless, reactionary dolt responding to an argument with 'your an idiot' approaches 1.
