They are going to start charging for over 25k hits a day - $4 per K overage.

That's going to get bloody expensive for those dating sites that use geo data and maps in their affiliate advertising.

I do not blame Google ... I would also charge people who use my free service for their personal profit ...

Oh, come on now. Google will only charge SITES, not users, a fee of $0.004 cents for each map-hit over 25,000 per day. This changes nothing for 99.65% of users out there. Google technology is awesome and joe blows like you and me get to use it all for free since its paid for by advertising. Google empowers businesses around the world and lets the small guys compete with the big ones to boot. What on earth do you have to complain about?

Yeah they are just trying to charge businesses, it's not a bad plan really. Marketing should cost a little money at least. It's crazy what you can get from Google for free as a business.
