After all ICQ crap and shit I change to communicate to "email" but sometimes Skype!

I much prefer to have a chat or conversation on skype icq or another chat system... Emails are so one sided & formal

ICQ is a really good way to have a personal relationship with the people you are working with but even with the client I use (QIP) which is really stable I still find that messages are dropped where I do not receive them or my intended recipient does not receive them.

For that reason and because I am better able to track the things I need to get done I definitely prefer e mail.

Yeah ICQ sucks balls. Though i do use it everyday. E-mail is better though. I really wish the industry would switch things up and choose a different messenger.

Skype is my favourite, the low cost over seas calls make it a fantastic system :thumbsup

I prefer Google Chat over ICQ. Something about the owners of ICQ changing hands recently that doesn't sit right.

I prefer email then phone. ICQ or chat is my least preferred option.

business = email as I avoid phone or chat for business as I like to have the terms in writing

To me asking which I prefer is kind of like asking "do you prefer Intel or Chevy" - they are both useful for different purposes.

Phone and ICQ are good for back and forth conversations, where something needs to be discussed. I much prefer email for "please do this", "ok, done". I don't need to interrupt your work day demanding immediate attention on ICQ for most things.

Also people forget that instant messaging, becoming popular long after email, is called INSTANT messaging for a reason. It's designed to by instant, whereas email is designed to be RELIABLE. Don't leave me an important message on ICQ and assume that I'll eventually read it. If you want the message to be reliably delivered even if I'm dieting down as you send it, use email. If you want to chat about something, see if you find me on ICQ or not.
