LOL Tea Partier Koch Funds Research Which Shows That Global Warming Is Real

http://news.yahoo.com/skeptic-finds-...142616605.html
Quote:

WASHINGTON (AP) ? A prominent physicist and skeptic of global warming spent two years trying to find out if mainstream climate scientists were wrong. In the end, he determined they were right: Temperatures really are rising rapidly.

The study of the world's surface temperatures by Richard Muller was partially bankrolled by a foundation connected to global warming deniers.
The foundation being Charles Koch Foundation, whose founder is a major funder of skeptic groups and the tea party.

Prof Judith Curry, who chairs the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at America?s prestigious Georgia Institute of Technology, said that Prof Muller?s claim that he has proven global warming sceptics wrong was also a ?huge mistake?, with no scientific basis.

Prof Curry is a distinguished climate researcher with more than 30 years experience and the second named co-author of the BEST project?s four research papers.

Doesn't most scientists agree on that global warming is real but they don't agree on what's causing it?

Do you know the difference between a scientific study and a dumbass with a platform to voice an opinion? One has rigid requirements and follows the scientific method, the other lets people do shit like jump up and down on Oprah's couch and tell you not to give your kids medicine.

Gouge 10-30-2011 09:46 AM

Damn those pesky Koch brothers for funding a science project, only reason this thread was made is because the name Koch is in the article.

It seems rather foolish.

Logic would sugest it be a good idea to not polute the planet and use things that bio degrade.

Logic sugests if you use less chemicals its a good thing.

At the end of the day what are those people who do not belive in global warming want? Do they want to just polute everything?

Surly even those who do not belive in global warming see benafits of being green.

i mean do they prefer to drive around ion a gas guzerling car that costs a fortune to run and is technicaly slower than a electric car? yes electric cars are faster.

I do not care if we have global warming or not. i do care that the place is litered withg rubish, the air not clean, water/sea full of polution.

Surly its a good thing to be green?

Caligari 10-30-2011 10:04 AM

Why are you being so surly;)

I agree though, the argument against global warming is always used to somehow justify the destruction of the planet but the reality is that the destruction is real and it continues unabated.

Meantime, last night the was a surprise snowfall in October on the East Coast of the USA -- up to 15" (38 cm) in some places -- makes it tough to sell global warming ...

You'd have to understand the American right. Very wealthy people worth billions of dollars lobby, buy politicians outright, lie, cheat and steal to have their way. While most people would argue for a clean planet these billionaires do not like it because they are actively raping the planet and polluting everything to make more money.

Because many of the laws they are concerned with also affect huge corporations that like to play dirty, and because the same circle of rich fucks have their fingers in everything, they tell sheep what to say or think. Said sheep are the ones that would say recycling is good to your face but take up for a company polluting an entire river if Bill O'Reilly told him that stopping them is AN ATTACK ON SMALL BUSINESS or similar.

If the Koch brothers funded this study you can bet your last dollar it was because they were trying to buy favorable results.

2MuchMark 10-30-2011 10:07 AM

Global Warming deniers + Birthers + 9/11 "Truthers" + Creationists + etc...

Is it any wonder why it takes so long for real progress these days?

keysync 10-30-2011 10:18 AM

I don't think anyone would argue against stopping pollution.
The problem I have is the answer to solving global warming is to give the government money. And that will solve it magically.
It's bullshit

Of course anyone who disagrees with you is a dishonest shill and anyone who confirms your firmly held beliefs is doing honest research. :winkwink:

I'd say it is partly that but partly people are correctly skeptical after other big lies like "acid rain". Plus, on the "correct" side are just more billionaires who want to control the laws being made so that they benefit.

Either way it is being told what to do by someone who doesn't give a shit about you and just wants to control you.

Communism = give what you can, take what you need (how'd that work out - they'll tell you what you can give and what you need; killed 20 times more people than hitler))
Joint farming = everyone works the land together (slavery and plummeting yields, then starvation)
Fighting Terrorism = preserving freedom all over the globe (enrich contractors who produce nothing while shredding the constitution)

"Big ideas" that can be said in two words and require "big sacrifices" and "new ways of doing things" are for controlling people. Both sides lie.

Actually, you missed an important point in the quote I posted:

I think you missed reading the article i posted...

This is from Professor Curry's own yap-
Quote:

"The Muller results unambiguously show an increase in surface temperature since 1960," Curry wrote Sunday. She said she disagreed with Muller's public relations efforts and some public comments from Muller about there no longer being a need for skepticism.
Brilliant, so even though she cannot deny his findings she sure as hell wants to make sure people find fault in his public relations:1orglaugh

In other words she got a quick call from Koch.

Common sense says that man made global warming is real. You would have to be dimwitted to not accept this.

When humans tear up wooded areas and grasslands and put down concrete roads, huge parking lots and build structures with asphalt roofing, heat is going to be reflected back instead of being absorbed into nature.

When you have millions more cars on the roads, that is more heat, more exhaust.

epitome 10-30-2011 05:57 PM

Global warming, climate change, global cooling, erratic weather patterns...

Call it what you want but nobody can deny that we're raping Mother Nature and concurrently shitting on her chest (I haven't figured out how we're doing both at the same time and hope CurrentlySober will weigh in).

The bitch always wins though and when she's had enough, she is going to purge us.
