Some years since I used Drupal for the last time (and enjoying life without it) and now I had to convert Drupal to a decent CMS (as in WORDPRESS). So far so good, but, in the meanwhile, our client needs the former site to be alive in a new server. I have everything, so it should be a piece of cake, right?

WRONG!

Drupal continues to be a piece of crap and even installing it is a nightmare. I said to myself "well, I'm not too bright, let's find some help" and found out people posting comments are coders, programmers and system developers who can't even get the fucking default install to work.

Anyway, took me a couple days to find out WTF was going on... as opposed to the famous WP's 5mins install... and they are wondering why WP is rolling all over them :1orglaugh

Anyway, lesson learned, next time I hear someone willing to use Drupal I will run away as fast as I can! /RANT

i love Drupal.

I tried Joomla for a project, but it was a resource hog. Plus I could never get it to look the way I liked.

I code my projects from scratch with a framework, but I have used drupal for multiple projects and it is extremely easy to install and a very good option for advanced websites for people that struggle with database design concepts since drupal gives you a visual option.

You can also create excellent websites with wordpress if you understand custom templates and hooks.

I could probably go on for quite awhile about how ignorant you are of the concepts of drupal but it is a waste of my time. You are missing out and trust me, they won't miss you using their FREE cms.

Btw, my post is not to insult you, it is to assure other webmasters reading your retarded thread that drupal is a good option and that in fact you are the difficult factor in your described situation.

Drupal is leaps and bounds ahead of Wordpress.

It's just not for everyone.

You can easily scale joomla, drupal, wordpress, etc...most of the issues generally arise from poor database design and indexes, not from the script itself. Also, not to be mean, but your lack of knowledge on how to customize the look and feel of joomla is your own fault, not the joomla developers. I am so tired of everyone ripping on these amazing free cms systems that majority of people don't have the issues you claim.

This post reeks of Wordpress fanboism, as much of your posts do.

If you can't figure out Drupal, move on. Seriously.

It's just a learning curve. I remember going from frontpage to mambo and having my mind blown. Now, every cms seems like a piece of cake.

I was attempting to be some what polite, I am fucking leap years beyond what you will ever aspire to be. Your own personal conflicts and lack of dedication to learn a new tool such as I have done for almost all major cms systems is a mirror of your own negative limitations. Majority of these cms systems were built to be "all in one " solutions where a qualfied developer could modify their setup to accommodate their projects purpose. You obviously do not contain the simple skills to achieve these basic setups and it simply boils down that you can only blame yourself 100%. To be honest, anyone that truly knows what they are doing is neutral to all of these fanboy arguments and realizes how much of a fool you are. Btw, NASA's main programming language is Python idiot.

I just don't get the blind Wordpress promotion. WP and Drupal are both GREAT scripts. Good devs know how to adapt either to the work involved.

I love Wordpress. I love Drupal. I use what works best for the work involved.

In my professional life (PimpRoll, PORN.COM, TBA), it does not matter -- I hire the best programmers. Free software built for "whatever" can never do what high-level programmers can for a specific project/task.

Note:drupal is cms script,while worpress is blog script(which can be also be cms by using various plugins).But i personally dont like cms systems due their blotted code and having tons of features by default which are not needed.

That said, my girl works at Cornell University and they are in the process of moving all sites from CommonSpot (coldfusion cms) to Drupal. It's not for the faint of heart, that much is for sure.

Mambo Open Source is still around. At some point a while back, Mambo was the base for Joomla.

I have used them both. Drupal gives you much more control than WordPress. If you believe that your site is one day going to go big time I would use Drupal. I?m not knocking WordPress, I was hooked on them for years and never wanted to try anything else. I still use them for my blogs. WordPress is easier to learn for novices than Drupal.

I remember using mambo and then seeing a lot of drama on their forums about developers from mambo going over and either starting or joining the joomla project. This was some time ago, so I'm not exactly clear anymore on all the details. But, it seemed at that point, we all started using joomla.

Drupal is an extremely advanced CMS.. it's not the most efficient out the box but with a little know-how can get configured for very high performance.

I code by hand in EditPlus (Notepad with pretty colors) and make my databases in PhpMyAdmin and modify them in super simple scripts made for each site.

What exactly in the drupal install process had you this mad? It's used by hundreds of thousands of people. The install is easy.

It's not wordpress, get over it.

From a server security standpoint, one is much more secure than the other.

Anyone who's had a hacked Wordpress install can probably tell you the answer.
