Anyone using Skype for long distance?

I bought some credits recently.... it seems so cheap.

I may even get a monthly subscription.

I bought some when I was living in Mexico City 5 years ago. it was perfect.

RebelR 10-26-2011 01:07 PM

used it when I was in Europe to call home, worked well enough, depending on your connection. All my calls home over 8 days, were just over $4

I'm still looking for a decent way to travel to the USA without coming home to a massive monthly phone bill. Skype might be part of the answer, but what about data plans? I know they don't offer them, but is there anyone who does?

AT&T wireless sucks in Vegas every January.

I carried a Verizon "mifi" around with me last time and it was awesome. Free wifi though? Even if you can find it, it's poor connectivity.

I have been using skype for years. Before the iPhone I was using it with my laptop and a headset. I have been on a monthly plan forever with them.

I think I'm going to follow suit pretty soon. I have to train myself to use it more often, though.

I use it to ring the states here and there and it is very cheap in comparison to normal landline rates.

I use Google Voice. It's nicely integrated into Android.

Our office phone system will choose Skype for our international calling. Issue is though, with Skype Subscriptions you get limited to something like 50 different numbers per day. We can exceed that sometimes and end up spending out of Skype credit rather than the so called "unlimited" subscription.
