Veteran For Peace Member Shot In The Face With A Rubber Bullet

Thank God all those cops are there to keep everyone safe!

you don't get a pass to disobey the law because you served.
The police tell you to leave, you leave.

Staying would be the disobedience part of civil disobedience. They expect to be arrested, there is no excuse for 500 riot police to show up tear gassing crowds filled with peaceful protesters.

If they were peaceful there would have been no gas.

"We were in a position where we had to deploy gas in order to stop the crowd and people from pelting us with bottles and rocks," he said.

Protesters had also thrown paint "and other agents" at officers, he added.
The crowd reached about 1,000 people at its peak, Jordan said, noting that police used bean bag rounds to disperse demonstrators. He said no rubber bullets were used -- a claim disputed by protesters.
Two officers were injured in the clashes, Jordan said. He said he did not know how many demonstrators may have been hurt.

In an interview with KTVU-TV Channel 2, Officer David Carman said he had been hit by paintballs and more.

"The crowd started throwing bottles, paints, beer, eggs at myself and the other officers," he said.

They brought hundreds of out of town police to a peaceful protest. Of course they are going to blame the protesters, when have they not? There are full videos leading up to the tear gassing, they gave an order to disperse and started firing off rounds when they did not listen. Nothing was seen being thrown.

And I'm positive that there were some unruly protesters throughout the day. The stupid ass anarchist groups have been coming in and looking for an excuse to fuck things up. In this video someone flips over a dumpster during the chaos and the cameraman runs down the street to push / stop them.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=CReETRNT1yU

Here's a video showing the threat of force and the follow through, can't really see anything being thrown at cops.

So, what are you whining about? He came, he saw, he got what he wanted.

Sly 10-26-2011 09:12 AM

Oakland has proven that they are a rowdy city. I think there is plenty excuse to have a large riot force if they are planning on dispersing a large group of people.

Whether or not the dispersing is warranted, I haven't the slightest idea.

Amazing how people think it's cool to throw anything and everything at a police line during protests, yet when the police do actually fire back, it's a disgrace ???

Please...

You don't shoot people in the head with anything unless you have a very good reason.

What are they throwing at the police? Also, come the fuck on. Rubber bullets and other projectiles kill people if they hit them wrong.

Anyhow, it hasn't mattered so far. They already fucked with them once and 1000 came back to the encampment and took a second round of b/s. Every time they attempt this it brings more out. Escalating the situation like this could end very badly, time will tell.

Phoenix 10-26-2011 09:21 AM

interesting to see peoples take on what is going on.
the same people will no doubt clap the police on the back and say good job..well done as they themselves are herded onto a bus to be arrested.

And like the people before them, will cry when they get hit with rubber bullets...

Traditionally, an agent provocateur (plural: agents provocateurs, French for "inciting agent(s)") is a person employed by the police or other entity to act undercover to entice or provoke another person to commit an illegal act. sorry to inform you but i know of a few multi millionaires...actual millionaires who have been to the rallies now...and even got arrested for just being there.
they werent carrying a sign, they didnt do anything wrong.
but because they showed up....they got arrested, they were kinda too big to be beat down easily, but they did get pushed and shoved into a van and taken away.

another one got let go because they ran out of space in the jails

these people are fighting for good things...except for the free handouts some of them want.

ideally some tea party members would identify with them and help them get a message across....with this kind of movement, if the tea party could get in there and help direct it...they would have a real chance at the polls.

so instead of condemning something that obviously isnt just going to go away because you wish it too...try to embrace it and direct it to something positive.

actually that is not true.
they always put undercover police in the crowd to assess what is going on.
since most cops are useless roid loving twats it makes sense that some of them also act like morons and stir up the bees nest.

aww that's nice

so she doesn't go downtown, eat at restaurants, shopping, anything?

what's stopping one of these protests ripping through the street she's walking home on, and the police decide to carpet bomb the area with tear gas and bean bags and watercannons, and now flashbangs, and sucks for her, she just got caught up in it all

na. that would never happen. and it definitely hasn't happened before. not in just one city, but several cities. one instance resulting in a 48 hour incarceration with no representation or any ability to go to the bathroom or eat for that matter

that would never ever never happen.

no.

Anyway, if you think that's what's happening in all these vids then that's up to you. I rarely have any sympathy for the people caught up in it.

I guess my patience ran out when my brother who is a cop got seriously injured at a "peaceful protest" here a while back. He got bricks, bottles and whatever else thrown at him for doing his job, while all he could do was stand there.

So i don't give a shit anymore...

Occupy Glasgow

A woman has been raped in a tent at Glasgow's George Square which is the site of an anti-capitalist protest camp.

The 28-year-old is understood to have been attacked in the tent in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police believe the victim and suspects had all been staying in the camp site in George Square.

Police said they are looking for two suspects they believe are known to the victim.

no need to worry about me mixing with urine soaked rabble.

There are absolutely some anti capitalist and give me handouts idiots at these things. There are also many more that are fighting for legitimate issues. Even "tax the rich" could be a condensed version of "Stop letting multi billion dollar corporations that were just bailed out after wrecking the economy get by with paying $0 in taxes" but that doesn't fit so well on a sign. Free tuition, many countries find this to be the way to go but it's not representative of the entire movement.
