Should all paysites now have a mobile version?
 

With more and more people using mobiles, should sites have ayto redirect to a mobile phone version of the site?

I have seen some sites provide fhg that detect if your on a mobile or not. And auto redirect to the mobile version of that fhg.

These days you coulfd be getting tons of hits and wondering why they are not turning to sales. It could be simply people are on a mobile and find it hard to see your site and harder still to sign up on a mobile.

Its clear now that most phones will have big screens and internet access simply as its cheaper to build them like that.

We could see half of those on your site with a mobile phone (mabe even more).

So does it now make sense to go mobile?

I think with more and more folks using mobile devices you may see a natural move in that direction, at least a version folks can easily get to...for me its also about - does the product, adult or not seem to fit with mobile?

Now we have multiple mobile tours, and have adapted that into our stuff partly due to the fact it works so damn well with dating...

It made sense to sniff mobile traffic and offer them something bespoke to their device about 7 years ago Adam. Even pre-smartphones you could offer picture downloads for 1.50 a pop. As with everything, you're way way way behind.

Do you even offer mobile payment as an option on your site?

dating should do well, as its the sort of thing i could see people sat on a bus or train on the way to work may look at.

the option i was wanting is a simply 'press to join' and your mobile bill is charged.

while text porn to 576576 or whatever may be the only option, to me that sucks.

any sugestions on mobile billing firms are welcome.

I have done tests with this, and about 10% of my traffic is mobile and about 10% of my sales are from mobile devices, so I don't think a mobile site is really necessary. Most modern phones can play non-mobile websites just fine. Personally I actually hate it when I get redirected to a mobile site.

its true most phones can see webpages fine, except i presume flash files.

but

you have to move the screen all over to see everything. which is a bit rubish. and a right pain.

i think at very least an option for mobile if not mobile redirect so people can choose.

while a mobile version is not always as sexy looking, its opten easer on the eyes.

Most mobile traffic is from modern phones that should scale most websites just fine.
The most important thing is to offer mp4 and use latest version of JW flash player, which has html5 fallback, so iphone/ipad and blackberry users can stream the movies as well. And obviously works with Android as well, so it covers most of the mobile traffic.

If you do force the redirect to a mobile version of the site then make sure you still allow surfers the choice to view the site in the desktop version. Just a simple link will do... this way you can keep everyone happy :2 cents:
