How long does it take you to launch a new site?

What's the longest amount of time it's taken you to launch a site?

I've been actively working on my new project for about 2mons now. Created the psd design, did the css/xhtml coding, and now working on the php coding. Its a full member site with profiles, vid/pic, event, search etc sections... I'm pretty much doing all the work myself, with the help of stackoverflow.com. Which is not a bad thing, considering I've changed/removed/added a lot of features along the way. Its hard finding a programmer that will stick around let alone change features along the way. I have a Nov 1st launch date set which is looking pretty good.

It depends on if you mean from the start of producing the content to the paysite having a decent traffic flow & self sufficient or if you mean design & going live.

You need enough content for your members to feel happy to stay & enough new regular content for updates, but then the design could only take a week or so... The billing company only takes a few days maximum but the traffic can take a few months.

Once you have a program & several sites, the billing companies are fast & the traffic & affiliates are already there, so it can just be down to content & design.

It really proves, it's best to put something together naturally, rather than trying to do extra bits & pieces, trying to improve things & making it as good as you can. If you are good at it anyway, it should come natural to you.

for solo girl sites 5-10 years is average.

Acctman, Good luck with your project. You also might want to consider buying an existing network that is already up and running and making lots of money for its affiliates:

longest, somewhere between two and 3 years....

I think if I had to start from scratch shooting content and everything, I could now do a nice site in 4 to 6 months. but man.... that would be working nonstop!
