dell just called me

Dell just called me from I think India to thank me for a recent purchase and wanted me to renew a warranty on a laptop that has been over for 2 years now. but No joke the price and the warranty and the time it was starting and expiring changed about 10 times on the phone. I was willing to go 2 years on the Laptop and another 3 years on a desktop. But this lady was so inconsistent I basically told her to go fuck herself and cancelled the whole deal.

She blew a $458 sales call, hopefully she does not charge my card.

Whats funny is how they tell you this is the best deal ever...so and so price, you say okay, she repeats the price again but higher. Then the story went from in home service to mail in service and she just kept talking faster and faster. She even said the 2 year warranty would end in March 2013, sweetheart a 2 year warranty needs to end 2 years from today. All the while she is waiving a $75 dell coupon...wtf can you buy at dell for that? :321GFY

I ordered a camera through a place that called me no less than 10 times trying to upsell me on shit and took WAY too long to deliver.

Finally when the deliver date came and went and they were still "backed up" I called them and was assured it was on the truck and would be there "within the week."

I said fine, and they tried the upselling shit again. Everything from lens wipes to memory cards to actual lenses. Finally said "I'm just going to cancel my order" and had to be transferred about 5-6 times while repeating "Cancel my order" to everyone that picked up the phone, STILL trying to upsell me on shit. They lost a $1,000 dollar sale over it.

Amazes me that some companies are capable of staying in business like that, and even more surprising Dell is doing it.

I like their desktops, I just got super machine, dell studio xps 9100 but should have added more then 2 years warranty in the beginning. I went to http://www.techbargains.com 1st and got a coupon code and saved close to $500 on my computer from dell's website. You just need to compare different codes, because some don't give you all the options you want, and some make you purchase more since the options change when customizing the computer.

That's actually a typical scam, I wouldn't be surprised if they were happy to refund your money because would have been making a loss without all of the overpriced aftermarket items they were trying to upsell.

Some of them are super shonky, like telling you (after you've placed an order) that the camera doesn't come with a battery, which will cost you extra.

HandballJim: are you sure it was even Dell?

I used to have a Dell credit account years ago, and suddenly last week I got a $200 check from them. They told me they over charged me on interest and had to refund me. I thought that was odd being as I hadn't used the account in like four years.

Well they knew all my dell purchase history, but who the hell knows. I guess I will call their customer service department to see if it was legit tomorrow.

Dell called me a couple weeks ago too. Dude said he wanted to introduce himself. He was assigned to my account and wanted to know if I needed any new equipment. I said, "I'll let ya know".

I thought it was weird because they have never called in the 6 or 7 years I have used them.
