What's the rule of thumb that majority go with when it comes to blogs and ips? How many blogs and/or mini sites per ip?

At some point if you have to many blogs on a server it crashes.

I fit about 25 wordpress blogs on 1 shared hosting account, then make a new account and make more blogs.

Are you inter-linking them? If not, when performance lags. If yes, don't.

ultimately it comes down to unique quality content and backlink quantity/quality.
