How much should I tip the auto detailer?

He's cleaning my car... the guy is here, not sure

Auto detailer not Dealer...

I would go with the normal 5% - 10% I guess.

I'd probably tip like 5%... it's not hard to detail a car, plus, its not like they're working on waitress' wage. I detailed cars several years ago, had no problems with the fact that nobody tipped. We got paid enough!

I really don't see the point of tipping someone that just does their job even if they do it well as they should. A tip should go to someone that goes above and beyond doing their expected job. If the detailer did something extra like adjusting his schedule to make room for you or a special drop off or something out of the ordinary, then a tip would be fine.

This doesn't apply to people that give service like a bartender or waitress. They should be tipped and the amount should be determined by the quality of service they provide.

If the business owner is actually doing the job then give him nothing. Never tip a business owner as they should be setting the price and not look for handouts.

He just left, paid him... was gonna tip, he said don't worry about it (gave it back) My car looks amazing, looks brand new :thumbsup

For a regular car wash, a buck or two

50-60 quick detail, 5 bucks

Complete detail, 10 bucks + :thumbsup:thumbsup

Nothing, that's dumb, I pay XXX for a full detail, I expect to be paying for a full detail... why would I then pay ontop of that for the guy to do it? Is it some kind of fucking magic that takes place?

pornguy 10-17-2011 10:37 AM

I do it based on the work they do. Usually about 4 to 8$

_Richard_ 10-17-2011 10:42 AM

10% if in doubt

Chris 10-17-2011 10:47 AM

if its some guy just out hustlin i wouldnt tip him - just pay whatever he charges

but if it is a company and its the employee the owner sent out he is getting an hourly wage so i'd suggest 10 bux or so

beerptrol 10-17-2011 11:04 AM

he probably tipped himself from the loose change bin in the car

DarkJedi 10-17-2011 11:09 AM

should have gave him a blowjob

nico-t 10-17-2011 11:25 AM

you guys and your tipping, wtf. I only tip waiters & the pizza delivery guy. Most of the time 1 or 2 euros. Weird 15% shit, glad it doesnt work that way here.
