Camaro ZL1 Pics!

Wow, this car is gonna rock!

Chevrolet's supercharged Camaro flagship, the ZL1, has posted a blistering 7.41:27 lap of Germany's Nurburgring circuit, putting it in the company of speedsters such as the new Porsche Carrera S (7.40) and Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce (7.42).

The ZL1 is a reworked version of the Camaro SS, which is based on the Holden-designed Zeta platform that also underpins the VE Commodore.

General Motors said 30 per cent of the Camaro SS was re-engineered to build the ZL1. The ZL1's time at the 20.8km Nurburgring circuit was almost 40 seconds faster than that of the Camaro SS.

That's HUGE boost for a standard car.

Because they could've just as easily made it goto 25psi or 30psi and the guys dropping the car off at the shop to have a bigger supercharger or twin turbo system installed could still use the stock gauge and not have to install an aftermarket one and have TWO boost gauges in the car (one awesome useless one).

THey should have included a shortened diff, speedo for 400k, bolt holes for a 4 link too right?

What about a pre cut hole in the bonnet for bigblock carbied conversions? Come to think of it - tube front end too - mount for parachute.

BAKO 10-14-2011 09:28 PM

Still an ugly American junk.

Lol, good point, sort of. But those are all things that can be done to the car replacing stock parts, you aren't going to install a shortened diff and have the old one still in there being useless. The gauge on the other hand will always be there whether it's in use or not. If you ever boost past 15psi you still have to look at the old nice one sitting there for no reason.

Only a problem for less than 5% of the owners of course, but just something that bugged me.. anyone buying a boosted car is most likely going to be raising the boost at some point.

What is the stock psi anyways?

i dont think it is standard.

out of factory is already capable of 15psi all the modifications needed to run that are out of factory :) so imagine what third party mods could do :)

but then again why need them

That pretty much sums up the interior on most GM vehicles. At least this one has pretty colors.

well they are thinking aftermarket.... think out of the box you know what i mean...

you are actually complaining about a boost gauge lol shit... that is the least expensive part of upgrading lol
