Say good-bye to online porn in the UK

Subscribers to four of the UK's biggest internet service providers will have to "opt in" if they want to view sexually explicit websites, as part of government-sponsored curbs on online pornography.

Frank21 10-11-2011 05:08 AM

Verisign wants to bann all "abusive" websites as well.
Most likly will include all porn not on a fucking .xxx ripoff domain.

So how do you block porn sites, review all domains one by one or start with .something and then take it from there?

Ask the idiots that run the UK government.

Make them struggle to get to the porn, by the time they arrive to feed they'll be very hungry and have less self-control :2 cents:

Cyber Fucker 10-11-2011 05:52 AM

What is this shit and what the fuck it means?
How the hell web will be filtered? Will connections go through some kind of server with filtering software or what? Will I not have access to my own websites by default in the UK lol? I'm actually out of adult long time ago but I still have a few sites left there. I don't like the whole idea. How will they control what content people access? This whole thing stinks with web surveillance. Any idea when it will go live?

Anyone have more info about technical side of this?

digitalfantasies 10-11-2011 06:19 AM

that is stupid and fucked up, hope the UK will realize they are retards and cancel the plan

GatorB 10-11-2011 06:23 AM

If they insist on this you should have to opt-IN for the porn blocking. That way those that want to block porn get the blocking. I'm so sick of conservative Jesus freaks trying to tell everyone what they should and shouldn't be looking at.

pimpware 10-11-2011 06:31 AM

adult porn = evil - let's shutdown the interwebz because some adults are fornicating and that is pure EVIL!

cp ... cp it's ok

This has nothing to do with Jezus tho, but with total control.
Control about what you eat, how much salt how much vitamins, what you see and what your on TV internet etc.
Total control where Hitler and Stalin would be proud of.

AdultKing 10-11-2011 06:38 AM

This idea isn't dead in Australia either. Anything rated R or above will be blocked and there will be no opt out. Smart users will just use a proxy.

Zorgman 10-11-2011 06:39 AM

Smart users will move to another Country with better standards.

It will involve a shitty system in the way most work filters work, a robot that searches for target keywords and bans sites based on certain criteria.

EukerVoorn 10-11-2011 06:52 AM

Hey GatorB you're back, can't wait to see you lose your temper again and curse and swear so I'm going to follow this thread. How is the chemo going by the way?

Sophie Delancey 10-11-2011 06:53 AM

Wow, seriously? This has got to be some of the most ridiculous legislation I've ever heard.

EukerVoorn 10-11-2011 06:54 AM

O by the way, sites like RapidShare and Oron won't get blocked of course so this is only going to help the piracy even more. But wait till they killed all porn producers, that will be the end of the internet as well because what is an internet without porn?

that's where .xxx comes into play

EddyTheDog 10-11-2011 07:00 AM

Total BS - Cant and wont happen....

They know we will be under the radar within hours.

bronco67 10-11-2011 07:06 AM

Anyone in charge of deciding whether or not to have porn on the UK internet is most likely a man -- and ALL men like porn. So I don't see what anyone would be afraid of.

This is like worrying about Courtney Love banning meth.

really?

The measures will be unveiled on Tuesday as David Cameron hosts No 10 meeting with the Mothers' Union, which earlier this year produced a raft of proposals to shield children from sexualised imagery.

The prime minister is expected to announce other moves in line with the Christian charity's review, such as restrictions on aggressive advertising campaigns and certain types of images on billboards.

rogueteens 10-11-2011 09:06 AM

I'm in the UK and i'd never heard of this "Mothers' Union" before, they seemed to have popped up out of nowhere.

AnimeFevers 10-11-2011 09:10 AM

What was the internet made for?

It was made for FUCKING PORN!

Those smart users are probably the type who already know their way around the web and its archive of full length free porn.

lazycash 10-11-2011 10:32 AM

Uh oh, what is this industry going to do without dvtimes and aarsewithclass.

The global authority over all .com domain names, VeriSign, is demanding the power to terminate websites deemed ?abusive? when ordered to by government without a court order or any kind of oversight whatsoever.
Note it says ALL .COM DOMAIN NAMES.

.XXX is coming in for the win.

halfpint 10-11-2011 11:04 AM

This is not something thats new apart from the clamping down of advertising and reporting they want to implement

As I said in the other thread If you buy a dongle or a new mobile you have to get it unblocked. When i got my dongle, All i had to do was ring a number and they unblocked it within minutes. The crap thing about it is they dont just block porn sites they block mainstream sites like Youtube for some reason. I had to do the same thing with my new mobile I got.

porno jew 10-11-2011 11:11 AM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pornogr...region#Germany

Websites hosting pornographic material within Germany must comply with very strict rules about verifying that viewers are over 18.[13]

Joshua G 10-11-2011 11:14 AM

whats the big deal. basic cable doesnt broadcast porn (i said BASIC cable, not HBO MAX etc) when people want the sexy, they upgrade to HBO/MAX or subscribe to playboy.

The web is no different, just has millions of channels instead of hundreds. as long as the opt-in does not cost money & is not hard to do, so what...

Rochard 10-11-2011 11:31 AM

This will be funny.

One of the most offensive sites out there is... YouTube. I caught my kid watching a video of Ronald Fucking McDonald taking a piss in public. Well, clearly, that's both offensive and pornographic even if it didn't show his cock.

Next up, Facebook. It's a fact that pedofiles use Facebook to find young kids to molest. Thus, they'll need to take down too.

The government is going to destroy the Internet.

Sites like RapidShare and Oron needn't concern themselves with 2257, model releases or PayPal's porn restrictions either.

Please you can't compare cable to the internet. My internet connetion is not listed as "basic internet" in fact it's listed as "unlimited". So preventing me from adult sites would be false advertising.

Cherry7 10-11-2011 03:49 PM

A certain amount of this is the Government posing and playing to the press...

A little diversion as living standards are falling in the UK 7% this year.

The Internet companies will do the blocking, most adult Sites are known.

If you support right wing governments these are the consequences.
