How do you pay someone in Argentina?
 

I need to make a payment to someone in Argentina, but there seems to be no method of payment...

Banks will steal his money, paypal won't let him sign up, checks or cash in an envelope will be opened as soon as they enter Argentina... so how would you pay a guy down there?

I guess he works for free?? :Graucho

That kind of payment arrives in a year more or less, usually
you lose the prostitute half the way, but is the method of
payment i prefer.

If you´re in Europe, replace the donkey with a bird or a canoe.

But Western Union works via the bank... And that is another way to steal...

i have paid programmers by Western Union. It's good but it comes at a price, forget what the fees are but after the first two times I used it I started telling these foreign guys who only accept Western Union that the WU fees come off their check.

Pay them in Chickens and goats !

A wire transfer to a bank should work fine. We've wired to all kinds of strange countries without problems.

Western Union has worked well for me sending payments to a few different places.

Other than that bank wires did the job as well.

ok, wihtout going into much detail, our dollar exchange rate was of 1:1 from around 1991, to 2001, our economy goes to the shitter in 2001 and the goverment decides to freeze all bank accounts and limit your withdrawal limit to $400 a week no matter how much you have in your account, at the same time the exchange rate goes from 1:1 to 1:3 (sounds stupid, i know)
so, simply speaking:

You have a bank account of 100k USD. Your money is hold hostage with a limit of 1200k a month withdraws, and at the same time it goes down from 100k USD to 30k USD (dollar/peso exchange)

I've used fdsign before and they are located in Argentina - Western Union is no problem.

Do you REALLY think that there are 7-11's with little atm's with cash in them on any corner in ARGENTINA where you can just use your card like that?

I've been to countries where you can't use a credit card at all. I've been to countries where they didn't even have a decent telephone system...

For all non spanish speakers, this what he said:

Open an account in any private bank here in Uruguay and transfer the money here. If not just ask them to send a check via FedEX and then cross the border and do the exchange here, which only costs 1% of the ammount of the check.
Or just have them use WU to a place in Uruguay and then come pick it up. And since we are in summer right now just come down to Punta del Este and take a small vacation and get your cash.

BTW I have friends in Punta del Este. =)

That's the beauty. Anyone with an epassporte Electron card can use it to withdraw cash in any country... in that countires currency. Peer-toPeer transfers are instant and cost a helluva lot less than Western Union without any of the headaches.

So Rand, you are saying that someone in Argentina CAN receive money on an epassporte, am I reading this correctly?

That was one of the things that impressed me about the system when I saw it at the show, the fact that those paypal type limitations would go away for the person RECEIVING money. It might be a bit more tricky for an Argentine to load money onto the card, but they can still get it out in at least one manner.
