A new method of payment

I just found a new way to take money and it is perfect for Content Providers and other people doing B to B.

Western Union will transfer money across the world from lots of locations. Plus there is no charges to the reciever. So IBill, CCbill & Epoch and all you other CC processing blood suckers. :321GFY

I will offer all clients who use this method a 5% discount, might make it more, and it will allow us to deal with those in countries not favoured by the CC companies.

I know it does not suit the paysite going for the impulse buy, which is the back bone of all the porn industry, but it might add another string to your bow.

It is ideal for us content providers, check it out guys.

your funny... they have been around for hundred of years.. use em all the time mate!

fuckign around for ages, 5% discount wow fucking wee! do not be too generous, costs quite a bit to send by western union in UK and u have to go to ur nearest shop that does it...

Paul Markham 02-01-2003 09:39 AM

I had never thought about it before even though I knew of them. Used to know Americans hitch hiking around Europe, way back in the 70s who would be going off to the local WU office to get more money from home. Just never though of it in terms of our business.

How much does it cost to send money?

I'm sure with People like CCBill and Epoch taking 15% + 10 hold back and charging $750 I would be more generous. But being with Paypal and only paying 5% I do not want to give it all away. Our prices are already competetive.

I agreed with a customer on a project priced $100 plus the WU fees on his part. It costed him 20$ to send, and they have their own exchange rates.
So, for $100 transfer:
He ended up getting charged $120
I got 89 Eur.
(this was several days ago, I think I was supposed to get ~95eur if normal rate was applied)
It's not so cheap as it seems, but it is fast.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the fee gets higher with amount. For anything ~300$ and more I prefer wire.

WU sucks cause it gets a VERY high % of what you transfer. It's the mean of all dirty online business transactions.....but again it's an alternative payment. One more won't hurt anyone.

Paul Markham 02-01-2003 10:15 AM

$20 over $100 that hurts. But no worse than some CC processors and the money is quicker.

This sale was $500 and the client asked for it so I assumed it would not be so expensive. Will have to check it out, i thought it was too good to be true, must remember to curb my enthusiasm. But it's still good for countries not favoured bt the CC processors.

$125.00 from us to estonia western union charges $27.00

$75.00 from us to romania western unions charged $22.00

From thier website:

Western Union is a global leader in money transfer and message services, with a history of pioneering service dating back more than 150 years.

I guess they had the internet and speedy payments in mind when they started.

they'll rape you on fees, especially if you receive wire from USA, cuz you cannot collect it in $ but in CZK

btw: the best WU branch in Brno is in hotel International :winkwink:

What would be really cool is an instant online P2P solution which worked globally, was anonymous, allowed instant access to cash or online spending, and was really cheap.... say .25 cents a transfer regardlesss of amount. Now THAT would be COOL!

Holy shit! I think epassporte does all that.
