What's the big deal with this "QR Code" barcode shit?

I don't understand why every single business is planting these all over the place now.. does the average person even understand what it is, how to get an app that will scan it, or even know it's meant to be scanned with their smart phone? I've asked a bunch of people if they have any idea what it is and they just shrug their shoulders.. why not just put a URL that people can goto or remember for later instead of encrypting shit into some barcode that people have to scan?

it's the most reliable way to send people to a destination without errors - all links at http://nonadult.com affiliate network are available in QR format btw

Just because you do not get it does not devalue them.

We use them for text like a business card, for location information on google maps, or for a URL to link to a contest page, email capture, or coupon. They work well in our print advertising. Also, place the codes on products with links to youtube videos showing how to use the products or giving a preview trailer for a movie. All good stuff.

I don't think the average person has clue about it in the United States, but the hope these days is that eventually they will catch on.

In Japan/Asia they go to the newsstand SCAN the QR Code and don't even buy the magazines these days. :(

Here is a Catalog with QR codes, hit it for me. Thanks! :thumbsup

Only now are people catching on ;)

True, but from what I can tell most people don't have a clue what it is and they are EVERYWHERE.

They're great for print ads, stores, business cards, etc...

Of course most people use them for business information - like on review sites, so the address, name, and email, is embed in them, making them a spammers dream, takes less than a second to snag the information.

Which is why they'll die.

so how can you spam and make money with this shit?
