I think they have you walking through the place in pitch black so they are using each other to sort of lead themselves through the dark, which is why everyone looks so gay. You literally can't see anything and are feeling around the walls to make your way through.

Then suddenly they flash a strobe and some loud noise is coming from that direction. I think I went through that when I was a kid. Can't remember much since it was like 20 years ago, assuming that is the same place.
