I love my small town. <1000 people. Extremely quiet, farms all around, and not much traffic.

I'm a Big City boy. Born and raised in NYC. Here right now too. But I've lived in many different types of places from small towns to the middle of the farmlands to the south and back up again. I always end up right back here where I started. Ain't no place like home.

Rochard 10-05-2011 09:06 AM

My little town here has 42k people in it. We are on the edge of the suburbs - In one direction is Sacramento, and in another direction is a whole lot of nothing. We are "off a freeway that is off the main freeway" and we had a huge building boom. We had a 280% percent increase in population over ten years, and was the largest growing city in the US for the past decade.

The city was expecting to continue growing when the recession hit, and combined with the all of the new homes (and thus bad loans) we are screwed. For a while on my street here we had exactly half of the houses vacant. The town is still broke, and three weeks ago the city workers went on strike.
