This one is for the developers: introducing PV API

OK all your programmers and developers out there; if you've ever looked at the sites, apps or promotional tools that companies like ours offer and thought to yourself "I could do better than that," then this is for you: PV API.

What is PV API? It's a new development tool we've launched that puts Pink Visual's data and content in your able hands to.... well, provided you do it according to our basic, commonsense rules, to do whatever you please, really.

To get started, head over to api.pinkvisual.com, register for a development key, and read through the PV API documentation.

Initially, the API key is limited, and you will be able to call just a few items for any given request. Once you have completed the basic application/site/product, you then submit it for approval, at which point the limitations are removed from your API key, and your creation will be ready for prime time.

More announcements about PV API coming soon (including some serious incentive to give it a shot) coming soon.... stay tuned! :thumbsup

tried to register and it said "user already exists"

Yep -- that's exactly what we're hoping for. The general idea is to put the creativity and ingenuity of developers to work in a way that benefits both Pink Visual and the developers themselves.

PV API is tied into both TopBucks and PlugInFeeds, so the apps people develop can be used to drive traffic/sales, or to create products for their own pay site feeds/products based on PlugInFeeds content. In the former scenario, the developer would refer traffic through a TB account and get paid for sales; in the latter, they would pay for content through PlugInFeeds in the usual way, but use their app to present that content in a context of their own creation.

Admittedly, I'm both a complete nerd and entirely biased since it is us that did it... but I think this is a pretty damn cool idea. ;-)

Hmm.. thanks for letting us know; I'll have someone take a look asap.

Hm looks interesting, will check it out later

Flexx (anybody else who encountered the same issue) -- you should be able to log on now using the email/pw that you submitted.

Thanks again for calling the bug to our attention!

Any plans or thoughts on a revenue share stream if someone creates a really cool tool that uses the API that EVERY affiliate could benefit from using? Almost like the BYOT feature of the past elsewhere..

Honestly, probably not revshare/referral like the old days given today's affiliate climate. However, I wouldn't rule out us offering a fair flat payment or even contract work to expand upon ideas.

we were discussing this at the office today since it looks interesting and we already built sites developed with this kind of tools, then they got me down to Earth: for developers that have no traffic (most of those whose business is to develop sites and apps), making use of this API tool might be fun, but nothing else. IMHO it looks like this is aimed only to people who has traffic, knows how to code and has a good idea but you're leaving both developers and people with no programming knowledge out of the picture :2 cents:
