Is this hosting compant know to anyone here?
 

Been asked by a client if these people are reliable. http://www.adulthost.com/hosting.php

I have no idea who they are and recommended he sticks with Phatservers, who we use, but he wants to cut costs. :(

Said I would ask around if anyone knows of them.

In hosting, Paul, many people are just resellers. They are not actual hosts themselves, but rather are resellers. This means they buy the hosting for x and resell it to you for y. See: http://www.webfusion.co.uk/resellers/

If you want a decent host, the only one I can ever recommend is Mojo.

Thanks Damian, just wanted to be sure. Mojo are good, it's just that I know Phatservers as we've have our servers there and been there for 6-7 years now.

Were you with them when your 'site slowed to a crawl' because that guy (the one you started a huge thread about, rang his boss but didn't, emailed him but didn't, etc) hotlinked a hotlinkable GIF from your webmaster tools? Just wondering :thumbsup

Hi Paul,

Does your client realize those plans you linked to are Shared/Virtual hosting plans? Based on your email and what you are building for the client I would still suggest he at least go with a VPS somewhere, which was one of the options I suggested. Unlimited has a funny way of not really being unlimited storage and bandwidth once you get going on those type of plans. :2 cents:

This is probably an old thread.. i just bought hosting from them - FFMPEG is not installed - Even tho its supposed to be a tube host, so its useless.

No support ticket answers for 48 hours so far.. and then i see this:

Like 10-15 people claiming this company has stolen domain names, and does not answer support tickets, lies about server locations ect..

The fact that anyone would ask you for hosting advice shows they are not the sharpest tool in the shed. They need to cut costs because they are not making enough money to stick with a reliable host so they are asking another guy who doesn't make any money where they should host.
