TheDoc 09-29-2011 07:13 PM

So is that the guy that would sit on domains about to expire, and if the lapped he would snatch them up and sell them back to the owner, before the rules went into place to stop that?

TheDoc 09-29-2011 07:18 PM

People that buy up patents and sue others should be hung in the public square.....

Theo 09-29-2011 07:19 PM

TheDoc, the interview is much more than grabbing expired domains. Evan posts here as Xpays and runs the GFY Domains Auction http://bid.huntingmoon.com.

TheDoc 09-29-2011 07:21 PM

no we buy mostly generic brandable domains and avoid trademark issues etc. like the plague.

we are not in that group because we did not buy this invention or patent from somebody else. ie. not a patent troll

My bad, I'll read it again... It appeared that the patent was several patents put together into one, maybe around what you also did. I am tired and planned on reading it fresh in the morning, I'll repost once I do.

the golf domain was the first expired domain we bought. we notified the domain owner via their whois info repeatedly to renew their domain. that was before we were buying expiring domains as a business.

Mr Pheer 09-30-2011 03:26 AM

Are you the guy that snagged kartracer.com and assaultrifle.com from me?

If you are, can I have them back please?

CaptainHowdy 09-30-2011 03:38 AM

But I don't want to be a millionaire !

Yes, I understand that... it sounds like that's what got the businsess going.

And is the reason why Icann has made several changes over the years to expired domains, because some people.... not saying you, but some, would snatch up these domains and offer them for ransom, collect the bounce emails coming in and spam them, and the list goes on.

Your patent does appear to be several put together, is that correct? I'm not saying you purchased those, but do you lic them or something?

While it's a lot to read - and soak up, it sounds like you basically patented iBill's affiliate system and gave it a new name... cool.

Verbal 09-30-2011 05:53 AM

Good stuff! Evan is my hero

there are no rules to registering, picking up expired domains.
you can do anything you want with a domain you picked up after someone else let its it go or forgets to pay for it.
I'm gonna list some of the common things you can do with a domain you register after it expires.

Sit on it and do nothing
Try to sell it on GFY
burn it
trash it
Snort it
Roll it up and smoke it
Wipe your ass with it
Beat TheDoc over the head with it
Stick it TheDoc's left ear
Fist it up theDoc's ass
ATM theDoc with it

However now we're a lot more civilized
your best bet is to let Evan and http://www.huntingmoon.com/ team broker it

Try reading the Icann rules on expired domains, before you open your mouth, you're making yourself look stupid.

Rules ?? what fucking rules ??
SHow me one icann rule that has ever been enforced by icann ?

Rules are what you make of them. For the last i dont know at least 5 years the rules have been set by individual registrars and go something like this.

For expired domains.
After 25 days past the expiration date.

- Registrars keep domains for themselves
- Auction them off to the highest bidder
- or wait 35 days after expiration and delete it

The last one is very rare and happens only if registrars see no resale value in your domain.

No that is not this guy. Not even close. It anything Evan would warn people about an expiring domain or buy it and give it back to the owner for free.

You are 100% off base

BareBacked 09-30-2011 06:51 PM

I am glad to see Slavdogg posting some facts here.

PornMD 09-30-2011 06:54 PM

I haven't seen the interview yet but have it on my watch list. That site has a lot of interesting, albeit long interviews. Evan's good people so I'm looking forward to listening to it this weekend.

lagcam 09-30-2011 07:04 PM

It is worth taking the time to watch (or listen to). Evan comes over in that interview exactly as he is when you deal with him.

Professional, straight talking and very on the ball. If your exit strategy doesn't involve talking to Evan, then it should.

Yawn.... http://www.icann.org/en/registrars/eddp.htm
http://www.icann.org/en/registrars/eddp-21sep04-enp.htm
http://www.icann.org/en/registrars/r...al-14feb02.htm

Well, it looks like they have made progressive changes and it does have rules depending on what took place in various ways.... so please, stick a sock in it.
