REMINDER: Next time you're in a fast food "restaurant," take a good look around.

Look at your fellow diners, and ask yourself: are these people like me? Would I be proud to have them as friends, neighbors and associates?

If the answer is "no," get the fuck out and never return. Eat something else, in an establishment that befits you.

:2 cents:

I've thought about the same exact thing walking into some places. It's a good point.

It's common sense, really, though it might not occur to everyone.

L-Pink 09-29-2011 08:55 AM

The only fast food I eat is McDonalds. The only time I eat McDonalds is when I'm traveling/riding and eating becomes a body function. I don't eat there because the food is good, I eat there because I know it won't be bad/spoiled due to their high volume and food turn over.

And yes, I know exactly what you mean by the type of customers ...

The trouble is that they would probably think the same if they glanced your way.

You can make the same argument with banks, schools, libraries or voting stations. Should we avoid these too?

_Richard_ 09-29-2011 09:04 AM

far too much thought into a lunch that doesn't top eight dollars

Years ago I used to work at Wienerschnitzel. I was making $70k a year working at the phone company - back then Pacific Bell - but I kept my job at Wienerschnitzel because it was fun and was a great way to meet chicks. (Don't laugh, that's how I met my wife!)

The best part was I was really good friends with the owner and pretty much had my way with the store. Any time I wanted I could just walk in, make myself something to eat, and then leave.

VikingMan 09-29-2011 09:21 AM

More like take a look at the employees and ask yourself what the chances are they wash their hands after taking a shit in the employee restroom.:2 cents::2 cents::2 cents: Happy Hepatitis :)

Part of the travel experience is trying the local cuisine. McDonald's does not fit into that equation.

You keep saying you made $70k at Pacbell. Are you including benefits in that number?

Tom_PM 09-29-2011 09:30 AM

I think there's no worries about anything from mcdonalds going bad. It's all preservatives and such.. There was some guy who bought a burger and let it unwrapped on his kitchen counter for months and it never molded.. it's not food! lol

I havent had fast food in over 10 yrs now. Real food is cheaper and... food. But yes, it takes time to cook. but it.. is... food.

if that were a problem there would be a mass epidemic right now, there isn't...

You guys can make all the arguments in the world for not going there, the only one that matters is that there are places with far better food in it, not necessarily better for you but it will definitely taste better. Why would you need any other excuse than that?

Ron Bennett 09-29-2011 09:51 AM

The same could be said for many fine dining restaurants - and in my personal experience, some of those are less sanitary than fast food places.

While there are occasionally reports of Hep-A and other outbreaks due to employees, more people get sick from food poisoning, which is all too common - and that is far more likely to occur at a fine dining establishment than a fast food place.

Because in Serbia (and most of Eastern Europe) people in mc donalds are way more upscale compared to those in the states for instance. Its still somehow trendy and not so cheap for people as in the states.

One of my girlfriends went into Popeye's (fried chicken for those who don't know) and ordered a 12 piece. The girl said "for here or to go?" And she said, "you think I am going to sit in here and eat 12 pieces of chicken by myself?" The employee said, "Bitch, I don't know your life!" :1orglaugh

Tom_PM 09-29-2011 10:04 AM

When I was a kid, maybe 18, I went for a job as dishwasher at a fine dining restaurant. I saw mice (yes plural), cockroaches, silverfish and a muskrat(out by the dumpster a few steps from the backdoor). I called later and quit the same night and told them to give my pay to an exterminator and hung up.

Check if the car ahead of you was built in the early 90's and the car behind you has a bumper attached with duct tape and cardboard for a window.

There are people in fine dining restaurants that I would not want to hang out with either ... people with bad attitudes or that you cannot please. I had the most amazing food at a very expensive restaurant on Valentines Day, and the couple at another table kept rudely complaining about the food and had them re-do it a couple of times before getting up and leaving.

Uhm...great story?

VikingMan 09-29-2011 11:21 AM

I worked my way through college in fine dining restaurants in Miami and can tell you firsthand that more nasty food gets served there than in fast food places simply because the food cost is so much higher. It is common to just pick a steak up off the floor and put it back in the pan. At a fast food place they will throw it away because it cost them like 25 cents.

Eating at McDonalds it's like visiting bad whore.

thickcash_amo 09-29-2011 12:33 PM

Ugh food is soooo bad from fast food places, and even regular middle level restaurants like chilis and applebees. If you could look at the ingredients and how they affect your body....I am sure most people would stop eating out so much.

Um, just about any other place will have "better for you" food than fast food.

Not just in restaurants - in life.

This attitude took me away from horseback riding and rodeos, all the way to international professional ballroom dancing. I have become a better, more humble, skilled, and aware person because of the people in ballroom.

It is sad that it is all that is conveniently available... however, now when I travel, I go to a grocery store and buy real food. Go to the deli, buy a lean meat, a tomato... fuck, buy some lettuce. Go to Mcdonalds to get your mustard. Fuck ketchup, you got tomatoes.

Buy a sandwich roll. Don't fucking buy a whole loaf of bread.

You don't have to fill up a shopping cart.

There is a smarter way to live then Mcdonalds. However when it's late, kick yourself for not thinking ahead.

Sometimes you got to do what you got to, but don't be a slave to mcdonalds just because you feel like they got you by the balls.

Not picking fights, just putting in my 2 cents.
