Would you divorce your wife while she's battling cancer?

(lifted from http://www.tmz.com/2011/09/26/john-l...ffs-wild-card/)

Boston Red Sox pitcher John Lackey has filed to divorce his wife, Krista ... who is in the middle of battling breast cancer.

Lackey filed on August 30, according to court docs in Texas, claiming "the marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities." Krista and John got married in November, 2008.

Sources close to the family tell TMZ ... Krista underwent a double mastectomy back in March and underwent chemo as recently as June.

The divorce petition says John and Krista had a prenup. It also says Lackey has "separate property" he wants to keep for himself.

Lackey filed the divorce papers using only his and Krista's initials -- a tactic Tony Parker and Eva Longoria ... and Sandra Bullock and Jesse James also used in their Texas divorces.

It's unclear why Lackey -- who's struggled on the field all season long -- didn't wait til the off-season, about a month from now, to start divorce proceedings.

Lackey's camp had no comment.

Why should he be forced to stay in a relationship he's not happy with? Shouldn't matter if one person is sick or not.

PR_Glen 09-26-2011 07:26 AM

how do we know it's not something that she wanted?

lacking a lot of details to be judging either way don't you think?

The Heron 09-26-2011 07:32 AM

I'd rather be an asshole and happy than a nice guy and miserable.

marketsmart 09-26-2011 07:38 AM

i heard that she got the cancer from black guy she was fucking..

serves her right...

Lucy - CSC 09-26-2011 07:46 AM

Newt Gingrich did the same.

Sly 09-26-2011 07:48 AM

Happy or not... it's rather odd to me to leave someone that you were once in love with when they are at the lowest point of their life, to no fault of their own. There is either some real hatred or there might not have ever been real love, my bet is on the latter.

BFT3K 09-26-2011 07:49 AM

This guy would...

CaptainHowdy 09-26-2011 07:57 AM

Absolutely, maybe she was needing a divorce on the first place ...

blackmonsters 09-26-2011 07:59 AM

How does having cancer erase the fact the someone is a bitch who deserves to be alone?

Knew a guy that got married to this smokin hot girl and 2 weeks later as they were on their honeymoon she had a massive stroke and was totally paralyzed on one side of her body, face all fucked up, and after all the drugs and hospital stays she gained like 50 pounds and is now wheelchair bound and can barely speak and drools.

They are still together 4 years later, she's totally fucked in the wheelchair, barely able to speak and to top it off he has to take care of the 2 kids they had before they were married.

Amazes me this guy sticks with her, can't imagine how shitty that must be, 2 weeks in the marriage on the honey moon shit goes bad like that.

Going through a divorce, at the end of the baseball season... how inconsiderate to all his teammates.

Rochard 09-26-2011 08:47 AM

It looks bad when he's filing for divorce while she's going through this. However, while I can care less about his unhappiness, there's no sense staying married because it's not like he's gonna be by her side helping her out, etc.

bronco67 09-26-2011 08:47 AM

Look, if the guy didn't sign up for that, and he wants a woman with breasts, then he should go do what he needs to do -- but he's still a fucking asshole.

TheLegacy 09-26-2011 09:11 AM

Women survive breast cancer - and the report says nothing about it being terminal.
Thing is that this has been talked about for probably longer than a few months in - the fact she has breast cancer isn't the reason (I don't think) - and timing may not be approved by many - but it's his and her choice. I'm sure she is for it as well.

He has nothing to gain with or without cancer unless she had an insurance policy - I hate divorce problems coming into public eye because everyone has an opinion on it without knowing what's going on that brought it to that point. I'm sure he and his lawyers along with her discussed this in length and felt it best for everyone

blackmonsters 09-26-2011 09:16 AM

Who gives a shit?

Lose your job for 3 months and most wives will leave you high and dry just because of that.

Fuck her.

I heard this weekend that someone I went to school with, divorced her man three weeks after she gave birth to their firstborn. Horrible! No idea what their deal was, not over a job.

Babaganoosh 09-26-2011 09:31 AM

People with cancer can still be fucking bitches.

you are so cold, superficial, dicky, cocky and a true motherfucker if you think that.

if you are in a relationship, you are not a single person.. you cant always think in yourself only.

that way you will die OLD, SICK and lonely.. and nobody will be with you, because you are a fucking asshole.

Nothing personal.. just stating my opinion about your opinion.

If you are with a person that got sick, you must be with him/her and help, because that person was part of your life.

I hate people that are so arrogant motherfucker who think in theirselves only... Those kind pf people should be erradicated from our planet.

But again, is the new ERA THINKING that some media has imposed you and washed your brain with the 21 century of the independent professional who can live alone and is the star of the planet. FUCK YOU.

Period.

Does he love her and is she his best friend? If so, you have your answer.

spazlabz 09-26-2011 12:45 PM

I wouldn't divorce my wife if she stabbed me! We've been married for 24 years and I cannot imagine how much of my BS she had to deal with over that two and a half decades... if she chose she has earned the right to make some discord of her own heh heh... I am however going to temporarily move out when she hits the 'pause'

godivabiz 09-26-2011 12:47 PM

dammm thatz cold blooded...
