IBill Cheques Bouncing?

I just got a call from my bank, apparently I'm in overdraft because the IBill cheque I deposited last week was returned.

I called my rep who told me that Canadian banks are having a problem with the cheques from IBill Europe...I guess that means the one I deposited yesterday will be bad too. And the one I'm about to get in the mail next week.

The story sounds kinda weak to me, I deposit cheques from European banks every month with no problem. The worst of it is that IBill won't do anything for me until I mail them the original which is somewhere in the inter-fucking-national banking network.

They weren't that helpful and definately not apologetic.

Great fucking way to run a business! :feels-hot

twistyneck 01-31-2003 02:39 PM

Nice text color.

TheRedZone 01-31-2003 02:40 PM

Yeah, I changed it as soon as I saw what it looked like.

Rich 01-31-2003 02:42 PM

I'd read that if the font color was white

All the wankers have been filtered out by the time they get to your link. They're definately looking for escorts, its just a question of whether they'll pay or not.

True, but if they pay at least you know you get paid with a good check :-)

I'm going to make the switch but that doesn't help me with the cheques already in the system, IBill won't do any thing for me until I can get the originals back to them.

WTF eh? When I bounce a cheque (rare, but I bounced a few today!) I work like a dog to make it good ASAP--IBill, on the other hand, is acting like this is all my problem. Of course, right now it is my problem

Fucking hell! I have some good Canadian webmasters as hosting custmomers and this IBILL thing is really screwing with them. If they would have listened to me months ago they'd already be switched to CCBILL. Argh.

Why would you have to send the originals back? I would think a fax copy front and back of the ones you have along with a copy of the bank notification should be more than sufficient for this situation.

They would stop payment on the checks you have in your possession and issue you new ones I would think.

That's exactly what we tried when a few checks of another company bounced. They didn't accept it and didn't issue new checks until we had sent them the originals back. And, of course, they didn't pay the returned check fees of our bank

I just got ibill spam to an old merchant account email address. They're giving away a free, red, C5 corvette.

They gotta pay for that somehow you know.

Whatever you do.... DO NOT SEND THE ORIGINAL CHECK BACK TO THEM! Send a copy.... It is a felony charge here in the states to write bad checks above $100.00.

Thats why they are asking for the check back... Do not send it whatever you do.

Hmm...sort of.

From what I understand they're giving away the use of a red vette for one year. It's a one year lease on a vette they're giving you.

WarChild 01-31-2003 04:33 PM

Does that include them not actually paying the lease, and you probably getting a fat bill at the end of the year?

Rich 01-31-2003 04:36 PM

When a number of people are all having "banking problems" with ibill checks, and a lot of people aren't getting paid at all, it's pretty obviously they don't have the money and are probably going under. If I used them right about now I'd be offering an incentive for my members to switch to a good biller like epoch or ccbill. No sense in going down with the ship.

Kimmykim, you're forgetting your worked at ccbill, they're a good company. Ibill is a terrible company.

Well when it is sent to another counrty, Federal law takes over. The Federal law states that anything over $100.00 is a five year Felony.

Brad Mitchell 01-31-2003 04:56 PM

Because I've got hosting clients saying they can't pay me because of IBILL problems I am responding in the following manner:

Anyone that opens a new account with CCBill in the next two weeks can have a free license to 3600 photos (value $1000) that I own for their members area. There are currently only 3 licensed sets out there, it's practically exclusive. I am defining this as anyone that goes through the IPSP registration process and pays the fee, regardless of approval or denial.

Anyone that opens an account with CCBill AND moves to SinHost in the next MONTH can have the free photos and TWO months of free hosting and no setup charges provided they pay for their third month up front. No tricks!

If anyone wants to take me up on it, contact one of the two following CCBill reps and tell them you've had enough of the IBill insanity (and that Brad sent you):

Lange ICQ# 144268948
Sean ICQ# 84769138

This offer is open to everyone and completely unsolicited. I don't want credit of any sort. I just want to see more webmasters in the hands of my good friends at CCBill.

Sorry if this ruffles any feathers over at CCBill, they had nothing to do with this post. This is what you call tricke-down economics, folks. Hosts with clients that can't pay their bills aren't happy hosts.

:winkwink:

Cheers,

Brad:

Actually, not really. In the US legal system you have to have "mens rea" (the "evil mind") to be guilty of a felony. So if you bounce a $10,000 check but it was an honest mistake and you make good on it, no, it is not a felony.

(Former law school student until I sought something more profitable.) :evil-laug

They will void the check out for a fee.

antigravityboy 01-31-2003 05:42 PM

Wow I though we had actually made it 1 day without an Ibill screwed me somehow post.
Just calling their bank they could put a stop payment on the check.
They probably want you to send it back because they figure a check will take at least a week to get there from Canada and then they can stall for another couple of weeks by lying and telling you the new check has gone out. All the time they will keep re-billing your members and then they will give you the big fuck you.
Ibill Cathy or Mark Smith or whoever they new PR rep will come on the board sounding they would love to help you, but you will never get a response from them.
Did it to me.

Hey Everyone -

Just wanted to respond to Brad's very generous offer from the previous post.

WOW! What a great opportunity for us to work with the great group at SinEmpire and bring on new accounts to boot!

First, thank you Brad, for your unsolicited remarks and your offer. We look forward to having the opportunity to handle processing for Webmaster's hosted by SinHosts.

Just a quick side note though...we try to be very respectful of the issues and challenges that face all of the IPSP's at this point, and hope that this offer will not be interpreted as a blatant attempt to take business away from any other third party processor. We at CCBill wish our competition nothing but success in the months and years ahead.

With that said - allow me to put one more incentive on the table for those of you who might be interested in Brad's offer:

Any Webmaster who moves their hosting to SinHosts, and contacts either Sean or myself (or any CCBill Rep.) in the next two week period can look forward to processing with CCBill at 13%, with additional discounts on volume! Now, that is one great deal!

I look forward to hearing from anyone interested in this offer.

Thank you,

Lange

Hey Lange
Nice to see you guys trying to help people out in their tough times. If I was getting a new server, I would definately check out Sinhost but I am happy with datahosters now :) I was one of CCbill's first customers and was with Cavecreek back in the day's when Ron was answering the phone's. He even woke his engineer up at 3 in the morning to do an OS rebuild for me. How about throwing that 13% my way also. I always tell people how CCbill has a great program with loyalty discounts and custom forms. Could help with all the Ibill crap going on.
Thanks

Kimmykim 01-31-2003 06:18 PM

LOL Rich I do remember where I used to work, but I also know that in most of the US states you have to have the worthless check in your possession in order to collect on it. So if you give that up, you are screwing yourself over. Same with taking partial payment on a check, you then lose your ability to prosecute criminally for the check.

Now I am NOT a lawyer, I don't play one on the porn boards and I certainly don't know how all states and countries work, I am simply speaking from experience owning businesses in different states over the years.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey Guys -

Hello!!! CCBill CAN DO business with Canadians...and process and handle affiliate support for every payment option, with the unfortunate exception of VISA.

The situation just isn't good...all of the third party processing companies are faced with the same dilemma of not being able to crack the VISA/Canadian issue. We attempted to find a suitable option with VISA International and their acquiring banks in Canada, to allow our Canadian Webmaster clients to continue to process their VISA transactions, post 11/15/02. But, as of FEB. 2003 it still just isn't happening.

With that stated, CCBill can continue to offer our Canadian Webmaster Clients options depending on whether or not they are willing to make some adjustments to their business location...or just offer steller support and service for the processing of our Canadian client's other payment options (MasterCard, Discover, JCB, and Online Checks).
But, hey numbers don't lie - and basically VISA business represents about 60% of most of our client's transactions...so as a Canadian Website owner, you have to weigh the benefits of both. Either way, please know that CCBill will handle your account in the best and most secure fashion possible.

Any Canadian Webmasters wishing to discuss options for their account today...please feel free to give me a ring or respond here...I would be happy to look at your numbers with you and determine the best option for you and your website.

Thanks!

Bouncing checks. Been through that so many times in this biz.

The best at it was IEG. Seth would bounce a check and then say don't worry I'll send you a new one next week. And sure enough it would come and that would bounce and he would say don't worry I'll send you one next week to replace the replacement check. etc. etc.

I keep his on the wall as a reminder that you have no real money in hand from anyone until the CHECK CLEARS!

FlyingIguana 01-31-2003 09:21 PM

i only promote one site that uses ibill now. when i get a cheque i'll make sure to take it to a different bank, so if it bounces it doesn't affect my account.
