More About the Porn Business from ABC News

Let's face it we are never going to get a good press. |
That looks to be word-for-word from the TV special. Is there something new in there? I might have just missed whatever it was.
I don't think most of what they said on the TV show was a lie (although it didn't make us look good), but no matter how you look at it, it always comes back to the fact that those people choose to be there. They made Bella Donna look so pathetic and miserable, but at the end of the show not only was she still in the business but she had also convinced a friend to become a porn actress and had convinced her Mormon mother (who later backed out) to be her manager. In that article and on the TV special, there was a ton of whining by Ona Zee and others about how "we cn't wear condoms if we want to keep getting work" and "if we talk about what really goes on, we won't get any work". Everything you need to know is right there in those sentences: all they're worried about is getting another gig. If it's that bad, go be a waitress or a rocket scientist or something. If the threat to your life is more important than the money, you can quit any time. If the money is more important than the danger to your person, well, that's your decision isn't it? It isn't like porn is a subsistance-level minimum wage job. It's not "she has to do porn because she needs to eat". There are a lot of options if you just want to get by. People stay in the business because they want to. Bella Donna was bragging about making six figures/year as a porn actress. Well, put some of that loot away and get the hell out of the industry. It's nobody's fault but your own if you spend it as fast as you get it and end up "trapped". SpaceAce |
