Passing a Kidney Stone

Ok, Downside is it's painful as fuck. Upside, get to the hospital quickly and hot nurses fill your blood with morphine. :)

L-Pink 09-16-2011 06:43 AM

I watched my dog suffer thru passing one. Hope it never happens to me. Good luck.

charlie g 09-16-2011 06:46 AM

most painful thing I have ever been through. And it happened in a third world fuck hole. Hours of writhing in pain and trickling piss hoping to die quickly.

Happened yesterday, 2 hours of excruciating pain until I went to the emergency room, 2 hours high on morphine and then it passed. I got lucky. :thumbsup

You left out the part where you had to wait two hours before a doctor could see you then another two hours of tests and X-rays to diagnose the problem all the while you're still doubled up in pain. Once they've determined its kidney stones THEN they give you the morphine. BTW after the morphine kicks in all the nurses look hot.

Speaking from personal experience :winkwink:

Actually, the hospital close to me is amazing, it was only 15 minutes from the time I got there until the time they pumped me full of morphine. About 5 minutes of paperwork, then they took me to a bed in the E.R., Doctor was right there, asked me a few questions while the nurse took my vitals, and bam, they had me on morphine. The CT scan didn't come until 90min later. I've been to this hospital twice and am amazed at how fast and efficient they are. No other hospital like it.

BFT3K 09-16-2011 07:03 AM

I went to the emergency room a couple of years ago with a really bad back pain. It was terrible!

By the time they saw me however, the pain was gone, but I was already signed in.

They took a few tests and told me that I had just passed a kidney stone internally, from my kidney to my bladder.

I was in the hospital for less than 3 hours.

A few weeks later I started receiving the bills. All said and done: $5,000!!!!

$5,000 to TELL ME I had just passed a kidney stone! Are you fucking kidding me?!

And there are right wing asswipes in this country who think our healthcare system is just fine. Amazing!

sponsorpimp 09-16-2011 07:27 AM

That is about as good as anyone could hope for :thumbsup

Mine happened one morning as I took off for work. Felt fine going out the door, stopped at 7-11 for a drink and felt a slight stomach pain. By the time I got going in my car it had gotten progressively worse so I did a U turn and headed home.

Barely made it up the stairs and inside before collapsing on the floor in a ball of pain. It was intense. My boss called and wanted to know why I wasn't on the jobsite and he quickly came over to take me to the emergency room. I was doubled over in the front seat of his truck.

Got to the emergency room and checked in and the nurse told me to take a seat and wait for a doctor. I'm no sissy but the pain was super intense. I kneeled on the floor with my face in the chair seat and rocked and groaned to help relieve the pain. What seemed like forever a doctor finally saw me. He asked some questions and then they laid me on bed and ran me through a machine for the X-ray or whatever.

Once they had determined it was a kidney stone they gave me a shot of something like morphine or demerol and within seconds the pain went away. It's hard to describe but the pain was almost unbearable. I've also had a toothache that sent me to the floor and I'm going to say that was worse than the kidney stone only because the pain was in my head and it felt like it was going to explode.

Cost for my kidney stone was $5,000 as well

dazzling 09-16-2011 07:52 AM

I had it happen twice and the pain is like nothing anyone could imagine. The first time I needed three seperate injections to null the pain and I was still in pain. One thing I learned after that...drink plenty of water in my life.

$100 co-pay and I was outta there!

Spudstr 09-16-2011 10:31 AM

I've passed two stones and i'm 28. My buddy just passed a real bad one and he had to have a stint up his penis for two weeks.. and how did they remove it? they fucking yanked it out like a rip cord. :P

I hope you never have to have the same.

CyberHustler 09-16-2011 10:36 AM

I suffer from these at least once a year no matter what I do and it's so painful that I've fainted, destroyed my home several times, beat people up and vomit randomly from it.

I have yet to get mine this year though... think this will be the year I man up and head straight to the hospital for drugs and skip the usual hard headed dumb shit. It's just embarrassing walking in there as a grown man crying like a little girl.

This exact scenario happened to me...twice. Even better is that after the second time I thought it'd be a good idea to finally get medical insurance. Of course, since it's pre-existing, they will not cover it! lol

I'd rather pass one than watch my dog suffer through that.

you should impress the nurses by doing it cold turkey

hop i never get one :(

BSleazy 09-16-2011 12:50 PM

I wonder if that's what's happening to me. Once or twice a year I get this horrible pain in my groin area after I'm done peeing. I googled it but couldn't find anything.

Being female does not save you from the pain.

The pain starts when the kidney stone drags along tissue on its path to eventually being pissed out. It's like dragging fingernails on a chalkboard and it starts at the kidney.

vdbucks 09-16-2011 03:25 PM

Never had one, hope I never get one.. but I'm curious.. about how long does it take to pass?

Mine lasted 4 hours.

I endured the pain for 3.5 hours before I decided to go to the ER.

I arrived at the hospital at 3.75 hours, and filled out the paperwork.

At 4 hours it had passed, and the physical pain was gone.

The hospital people believed a battery of tests was still necessary to confirm what had just occurred.

The physical pain was bad, but forgettable. The $5K in monetary pain on the other hand... not so much.

naughtyphonesex 09-16-2011 06:20 PM

Never had a kidney stone but I did have gall stones. The doctor said I had so many they couldn't be removed and I would have to had my gallbladder removed.

Super painful and apparently it makes you throw up a lot so on the way to the hospital I got sick 4 times! I thought I was having a heart attack the pain was bad.

vdbucks 09-16-2011 06:32 PM

Man... that sounds like some harsh shit... my dick started hurting a little after re-reading some of these experiences... Hope to hell I never have to go through that..

Major (Tom) 09-16-2011 10:06 PM

Happened to
Me while jogging. I still completed my run. When I got home I knew I was going to urinate blood. That's exactly what happened. It felt like taking knees to my lower back. Once I pissed it out I was fine. I havent had one since. Tough it out guys.

RyuLion 09-16-2011 10:13 PM

I never saw so much pain till I saw my mom's eyes when she had them..she kept the stones..6 stones total after removal!

BIGTYMER 09-16-2011 10:30 PM

After my surgery I had a catheter bag for 10 days out of the hospital. They removed it by yanking it out. Pissed blood for a day.

They are the same if not a little worse for us, our urethras are smaller in diameter.

Also for all you guys, our catheters are hard plastic and they tell you if you cough or sneeze while they are inserting it they will rip though you.

I have kidney stones. I've had to go to the hospital for them 3 times. One time they forgot about me in triage and the tremmors in my legs got so bad from the pain I couldn't walk so I had to jungle crawl across the ER floor so I could puke into something. It's a miracle I didn't get staph.

I actually had one last month, but luckily it didn't get bad enough to go to the ER. I took a fist full of aleve and a fist full of asprin and was ok- relatively speaking.

Anyone here get renal colic? I got it after my second struggle. Holy shit. :(

syck 09-17-2011 12:45 AM

Worst shit ever, first time I had them I didn't know what the fuck was going on with me. It felt like someone had grabbed my nuts and started squeezing as hard as they could non stop, I almost passed out twice from it. One good thing was I had a hot nurse give me an ultrasound on my nuts trying to find the issue but yeah, it sucked pretty damn bad.

I did find that drinking 1:1 ratio of olive oil and lemon juice a couple of times a day helped alot. The lemon helps dissolve the stone some and the oil lubes your tube, give it a try next time any of yall get one. I also drank alot of water and was taking flomax that the doctor prescribed.

Never felt anything in my nuts, you sure you weren't passing a testicle? :1orglaugh

CyberHustler 09-17-2011 08:31 AM

Word, when I get them the pain is in my Kidney (back) and bladder... and I feel like I have to take a bad piss the whole entire time but not much comes out. It's hell on earth for me. Marijuana helps slightly... the only thing that helps me fully is morphine.

lol possibly. The Dr. said it was because the stone was in contact with a nerve through that particular course of it's travels :uhoh

I had several of these. They told me mine would need to be removed also. I researched online and found a gallbladder flush. After that I never had another gallstone attack. Glad I kept my gallbladder :)

Slick 09-17-2011 11:46 AM

I agree with a couple of others that say it was the most painful thing I've ever felt, I was hunched over in tears crying, that's how bad it hurt. Luckily it did pass on it's own, but only after I was sitting in the ER and had to pay to be there. I hope to God that I never get a bigger one that I can't pass on my own and have to go through it. The thing is, that for the longest time, I'd get these little tingling kind of pains in the lower part of my back that'd come and go, but I didn't think much of it, well, it was kidney stone related, probably just some really small ones, so if any of you get those kinds of pains, I'm sure a fun time is in your future, ha ha.

And my kidney stone is on it's way right now... already feeling the full bladder but can't pee stage, by 3 in the morning I'll be crying. Good times await me within the next 24 hr :mad::Oh crap:Oh crap:Oh crap:(.

SimonScans 10-28-2011 01:25 AM

Nothing like a kidney stone to really make you pay attention. Doesn't matter that you know exactly what it is and that it definately won't kill you or do any permanent harm. None of this matters when it really hurts and boy does it hurt.

I had one a few years ago, ended up in a casualty bay, A docs, a nurse, a student and the model that had brought me in. So one of the docs starts this speach, which was NOT getting to the point anywhere near fast enough, but clearly heading in one direction; We have muscle relaxant but the fastest route in is a suppository. Are you ok with this? Do you want to do it? Mind if the students watch? yadda yadda. Anyway, long story short, I said something along the lines of - Give me the fucking thing right now, I shoot porn for a fucking living, I'LL DEAL WITH IT!!!

Meanwhile, in the corner the model is doubled up with laughter and a look on her face that says revenge is soooo sweet.

CyberHustler 10-28-2011 06:43 AM

Well, this wan't a bad one. I took a benadryl last night and woke up this morning with no pain and the normal morning woody & full bladder. Must have passed when I was sleep. :pimp

CaptainHowdy 10-28-2011 06:46 AM

Have a good weekend everyone ...

Roald 10-28-2011 06:50 AM

had a big one years ago, they shot it with radio waves so the stone(s) would be "smaller" and "easier" to pass lol. worst pain ever!

Barry-xlovecam 10-28-2011 07:39 AM

I have passed kidney stones time after time. I keep Vicodin 750's in the freezer just in case -- fortunately I have always managed to pass the stones but one got "stuck" for a week or so.

My Doctor found elevated levels of uric acid in my blood -- this is one cause of kidney stones. I take a drug called allopurinol to lower the uric acid levels and haven't passed any "gravel" or had any pain urinating for years now. (Knock on wood).

BFT3K 10-28-2011 08:11 AM

Although I am not on top of this myself, I was told to drink one oz of water per pound of body weight every day, and to add lemon juice to everything - like water, salads, etc. The combination of hydration and lemon juice supposedly guarantees that the stones cannot form.

Dark colored piss can be an indication of dehydration, as your normal "healthy" piss color should be virtually clear if you are properly hydrating.

A sedentary lifestyle is not helpful either, so as usual, I am doing everything wrong.

oscer 10-28-2011 08:12 AM

yeah, maybe it was because my tolerance used to be so high but I would think you would need a LOT of morphine for this.
