ERD Commander isn't working --- Any ideas?
 

I am trying to reset the Windows Administrator password on an old Laptop I have using WINDOWS XP.

I haven't booted it in 4 years and just don't remember the password.

I used to use ERD Commander to reset the Windows Admin password........


But for some reason, its not working.... Can anyone recommend a tool that will do this?

I don't think you are going to have any luck on this. I researched this a few weeks ago and there's nothing out there that can retrieve that password.

Download and burn either Ultimate Boot CD or Ophcrack.

UBCD has Offline NT Registry Editor which can blank a users password and unlock accounts. Ophcrack will just brute force the passwords.

In most cases...ERD Commander has always worked for me, but for reason it is not now.
