Audi V.S. BMW

Been reading all the reviews on Audi V.S. BMW on www.caranddriver.com

What do you guys think? I have found a sweet deal on a Audi S4 but the BMW 330CI looks pretty damn appealing too!

Advice please :helpme

Thanks,
DH

Actually Pete and I test drove the 2003 Audi A4 Turbo Quattro last week. It was pretty nice!

I'd personally go with BMW, I know a few people who had bad luck with 98-2001 audi's

See that is exactly what I was thinking... Something that is good to take into the mountains, some thing sporty and not too hard to navigate the awful Vancity streets in. Plus I want something I can fit my snowboard, golf clubs and a case of beer in. Hehe! And Makingcoin and Riprastor of course!

:winkwink:

Hey DH , I just baught a 2000 A4 1.8 Turbo. Not a fast as the S4 but drives like a dream.

Id throw my cash on the S4 not the BM.

good luck

Ray@TastyDollars 01-30-2003 08:51 PM

Mine is exactly the same as that, same color to. Thats a picture of an A4 not an S4. The S4 has an extra skirt on the nose end, and differnt wheels.

If comparing NEW cars - I'd go with the Audi.

When dealing with a used car - especially a turbo - it depends greatly on how the car has been maintained. Turbo's are edgy, and if you skip an oil change or it overheats once it can cause you a major - very expensive problem later. For a high dollar used car, I'd have it checked by a dealer - a compression check for $50.00 can tell you a lot.

Good Luck.

Audi all the way...but why go for the s4...when they have the S8

Obviously Ray doesn't own an S4.

I said i dont, I have an A4 . Its got the same bumper and wheels as that picture above. I dont however have that badge, I did not notice it had that S4 badge.

Either way A4 or S4 both great cars, Id obviously rather have the S4 but my finances did not allow me.

Hmmm looks like the S4 is the one to go with then :thumbsup

You know that I am biased to BMW but I would go with the S4 over the 330ci...I ate 3 of those with my e30 325 in week, over priced and underpowered:feels-hot
I wonder if you can drive sideways in a S4?:winkwink:

Nasty D 01-31-2003 12:00 AM

Get one of both:thumbsup

SNOW 01-31-2003 12:16 AM

If you want handling the bmw will beat it. You cant really compare the two. The better comparison to the S-4 is the 528 i. And to me The 528 I is way nicer of a car. BMW for me bud. After driving the beemer Audi does nothing for me.

sternyduke 01-31-2003 12:29 AM

i like the 2003 Audi TT, thing is tits.
:thumbsup

I'm one of those people. I had a 2000 a6 4.2 which was great at first, but i started running into alot of problems within the first year that i had the car :feels-hot. I've had bad luck with the audi so under normal circumstances I wouldn't recommend it to others, but between the 2 cars that you're looking at, the S4 is a better choice though. I am now a proud BMW driver. :thumbsup

I don't think we can compare the S4 with a 528i. It is not the same size, kind of suspension and engine.

S4 is the model that compares to the BMW M3. Now the new M3 has 333 HP - but before (1999, 2000) it was 239 HP or something.

The new S4 model will be built to compete with the M3 - and also the upcoming Audi RS-6 will kick some ass.

The S4 was/is intended to compete with the BMW M3 and C43. The A6 2.8 is in the same class as the 528i (same power output very similar price) and E320. The 540 competes with the A6 4.2 and E430. Now everybody bumped up their engine sizes so i'm not 100% sure how mercedes fits into these comparisons with the 2003 models, but the audi and bmw still compete with the same cars.

Here's my S4 in Arizona in august...

http://www.inicient.com/s4-2.jpg

I tried the BMW 330i, then tried the S4 less than 10 minutes after, and the choice was obvious.

The S4 is a great car, but kinda small inside. I'd like next a M5 or Audi RS6.
