.xxx tld - worth? or biggest ICANN scam
 

Not sure if this have been already discussed but i couldn't find any related thread. If so, please just give me the link.

Are .xxx domains worth buying? Or is just an ICANN way of making heaps of money?
Are they going to restrict porn on any other TLDs in the near future? Does someone knows any insights?

They look so just being overpriced. But there are rummors that porn could be forbided on any other tlds...

Everyone is currently waiting to see here on this board even if they all say "scam" they will buy if other people are making money/ traffic with them.


I plan on not buying and just sending out letters from my lawyer to hand over any .xxx with my .com's domains in it.

Obviously you haven't looked too hard. This has been a huge debate for some time now.

This will be our approach. Anyone who registers a .xxx domain based on our existing .com can expect it to become very expensive very quickly.

How could they prevent porn on other TLD's? Stop and think about it. Anyone passing that rumor around is trying to scare you into buying something or they just do not know what they are talking about.

JackBlackIt seriously, there are probably dozens of threads concerning this topic. There are threads about completely different things that turn into this topic. It is one of the most controversial and talked about news items to hit this board and our industry in years and it looks like searching for xxx won't turn up any results. Try;

When ICANN approved the .xxx they actually stated that their use would not be mandatory. The .xxx scam is basically just a money grab based on fear.

The good ones are very expensive. Of course it is a risk .

It is a big scam. This has been discussed many times over. We do not want it. I am not going to buy any .xxx domains. I had two .fr domains at gandi.net and I transferred them to another registrar because gandi.net sent me spam emails promoting the .xxx tld.

Though I don't support it, they will/are making a ton of money from it and not likely going to throw in the towel. If from nothing else all millions of mainstream brands that are buying up their trademarks to prevent anyone else from having them.

Sry to bring back this thread, I'm like most of you and can't deal with that scam, but since I've a trademark that I don't want to see in xxx tld, I'm doubting... I'm sure if I don't register it somebody will do, and if so I'll have to enter in a fight, and if I register it my anus will hurt... Any suggestions ?

You should worry more about having Vivid's celebrity sex tapes on your site and not promoting them.

porn can't be forbidden on all other tld's. No entity have control over all the tld's.
