And only a $196 ticket, money talks.

shimmy2 09-02-2011 06:37 AM

i paid $800 for police impound in canada once, though its probably nothing to them if you have lambo money. there are signs on the outskirts of toronto, nearby london that says if you do 100mph+ they will take your car

the signs are all over the 401 higway, what it is, if you are 50km's over limit, and you get caught, they will do a roadside seisure of your car, license suspension and up to a 10K fine. That is 1st offence, second offence getting caught, they can seize your car and crush it:2 cents: Pretty draconian:disgust

Gabriel 09-02-2011 06:57 AM

How hard could it be to out run a horse?

Choopa Phil 09-02-2011 07:09 AM

10k to someone who owns a lambo is chump change...ya it sucks but you gotta pay to play

iamtam 09-02-2011 07:09 AM

yeah, then they issue a few tickets and give all the cars back.

spunky99 09-02-2011 07:42 AM

asian kids with parents who dont give a fuck.

most of the kids didnt have full licenses. not one was over the age of 20

http://www.vancouversun.com/million+...015/story.html <-- has pictures of all the cars

sucks that they didnt actually catch them on rader, they could have seized all the vehicles and sold them at auction

Paul&John 09-02-2011 08:00 AM

wow some nice rides

_Richard_ 09-02-2011 08:17 AM

My Pimp 09-02-2011 08:22 AM

JFK 09-02-2011 08:27 AM

this is alll horseshit !!!:disgust
"police didn't actually catch them in the act and acted only on witness accounts. They weren't caught on radar, video or seen by a police officer"

Was caught going 149kph in a 80kph 69 over on a back road in my BMW, car and license taken for 7 days. had to pay $500 for the impound fee, and still fighting my ticket. been 2 months since i got it. and have a court date in November. So not sure what the fine will be but we will see.

I've got four tickets doing over 100mph - and never had my license suspended.

Biggest fine to date was only $800 so it was like a smack on the wrist.

One of my tickets was dropped from "exceeding 100mph" to speeding 85 in a 75 zone outside of Phoenix, Arizona, and the fine reduced to $150.

Vendzilla 09-02-2011 08:50 AM

First speeding ticked at 16 was for 45 in a 25. When the Judge asked why I was doing 45 in a 25 at 230am on main street, I replied I was getting it out of first gear. I was driving a Chevy Malibu Super Sport with a 396. The fine was $10.

I did some street drags when I was young, we never got caught, but we were smart enough to do them where no one would notice and changed the location all the time.

Elli 09-02-2011 09:11 AM

They all had "N" licenses. I thought that called for automatic suspension? $200 is nothing.

if they had been caught on radar they would have seized the cars, they dont mess around with that, they would parade them out for the media big time

Elli 09-02-2011 10:15 AM

On a closer look at the article, i recognized a few of those plates. And it's not like there are a ton of matte black cars around town.

Since they aren't minors, why are their names being kept out of the papers? A little public humiliation might help the situation.

This was at fucking 3:30pm rush hour. What kind of disregard for the human lives around them do these people have?

JamesGw 09-02-2011 10:19 AM

Kind of bullshit how they "caught" them.

No one should be going 50km over the speed limit, its retarded and you can kill people. If you get caught twice you deserve what you get.

Had they actually been charged with something based just on witness accounts, it would have been in more favor of the kids and probably a lengthy court case.

Apparently Canadians aren't like Americans that videotape anything and everything with their phone.

RaiderCash_Dominik 09-02-2011 11:40 AM

Thats some cars there.

Shoplifter 09-02-2011 11:52 AM

Almost all of those are leased vehicles...

ContentPimp 09-02-2011 12:30 PM

These guys probably don't give a fuck, and they don't even speak English. I am from Vancouver, and the kids of the rich chinese parents don't give a shit if the cops take their cars, they will go buy a new one next day.

That's Hong Couver for you.

Jakez 09-02-2011 01:34 PM

I believe the penalty in the US, or FL at least, is if you are doing double the speed limit they can impound your car and give you a night in jail. Soo 70mph in a 35, 130 in a 65, etc., don't ask how I know :(

Why do people always say this? People who can afford expensive things can afford them for a reason, and would be pissed to lose $10k like that.

I've been accused of speeding because I have a loud car. People are terrified of fast looking cars, no matter how fast they actually go.

going 30+mph over posted is considered reckless by law
