Dad died in '77 but my girlfriend's parents have been married over 42 years.
I don't want to know how long people have been married, but rather how long they've been HAPPILY married. I know so many people that stuck it out who shouldn't have.
37 years last week.
My parent have been married 40 years last week. Like most marriages I'm sure they had their ups and downs. I think when guys get older they have to get a hobby to get them out of their spouses hair, otherwise I'm quite certain they would have killed each other by now.
Mine have been married for 25 years, I am 25, lol.
My parents were married 57 years when she died.

My dad left when I was 3..so three years
About ten years when my father passed.
Regarding "happily" married, my father was not a happy person. He wasn't happily anything. I suspect that all marriages have ups and downs, that the first months of giddiness always give way to something more mature. Although, my three years of marriage have been pretty awesome. I suspect that is largely because we are each happy people who enjoy our life. We are happy married just as we were happy single. My ex-wife wasn't happy single, wasn't happy married, and isn't happy divorced. So to me "happily married" is a bit misleading. "Happy and married" better describes how it works, I think. |
Having said what I did about "happy and married", I have found that the ancient wise men were right. I AM blessed to have found a wife of great character. Her worth IS far above rubies; I do safely trust her and I gain much. I suppose there's a reason that's still quoted 3,000 after Solomon wrote it.

My parents lasted 15 years before they divorced when I was 12. It shouldn't have lasted that long, but it did.
some 30+ years running, they have had their ups and downs but they still have a very immense passion for each other and share everything. They went through college together and had me as a toddler during their senior year of college. Still they have each other as their best friend and one part of me can envy their never ending love for each other, have seriously NEVER seen them fight.
46 and counting... :pimp
My parents were not married, my father has never married and my mother has been married like 6 times now
How strange. I don't know.
My father died in Vietnam when I was nine months old. I always assumed my mother and father were married, but oddly enough I don't recall ever seeing any wedding pictures or hearing any discussion about a wedding. Might make an interesting question for my mother, who tends not liking discussion about my father and their relationship. My inlaws have been married for 52 years. |
My parents are on their first marriage and have been married for 40 years.
