After working for yourself anyone miss having a job?

I was thinking back to college when I worked as sears and in a way miss it. The interaction and co workers looking at me as their equal not the business owner.

I guess sometimes I miss having a normal job.

Grapesoda 09-01-2011 03:08 PM

not one tiny bit :2 cents:

nextri 09-01-2011 03:11 PM

Yeah. Not for the job itself. but the social aspect of it.

Rochard 09-01-2011 03:11 PM

I don't miss it at all. It's great working from home.

dddd 09-01-2011 03:11 PM

Same here.

DWB 09-01-2011 03:42 PM

Nope.

I've been working for myself in one way or another for about 16 or 17 years. Can't imagine having a boss.

shimmy2 09-01-2011 03:45 PM

fuck that work shit

mrmikeman 09-01-2011 03:57 PM

Its like school, everyone misses it because it's a way to socialize without having to try. Not having a job, or being in school makes you have to work in order to have a social life.
So get off your ass and go meet people! :-p

working for someone else sucks ass.

viva la entrepreneur-ness!!!!

redwhiteandblue 09-01-2011 03:58 PM

No, quite honestly.

My Pimp 09-01-2011 04:14 PM

I miss it. For example the co-workers.

Barefootsies 09-01-2011 05:17 PM

Social aspect? Yes.

Working a 9-5? No.

Vjo 09-01-2011 05:34 PM

There is nothing more important than being your own boss as you get older. :2 cents:

Not really, you won't ever pass that line working for someone else.

Saying that I have a part time job working for someone else when I'm not working online lol...

Hopefully soon I'll be making enough online to quit my other job and focus on my online projects.

Loki 09-01-2011 05:59 PM

I've been self employed for the last 15 years, and during those years I've also worked for others....

The ONLY thing I "miss" about working for others is the "guarantee" of the paycheck, knowing that at the end of the week there WILL be a check takes a lot of stress away, where as say when I was doing nothing but content producing / selling there could be weeks with ZERO sales and the stress level was deff there.

Which do I like better in all honesty?

It's honestly a toss up tbh, I like being my own boss, but in this day I think stability is more important to me then "taking orders"

I really liked the last organization I worked for, I stayed there for 7 years. Sometimes I miss it because it was usually something exciting that most people never get the chance to do. But sometimes it was some boring shit as well.

But I've been self employed for almost 15 years now and dont see any reason to change, although I did apply for a job as a diver at the Shark Reef a couple of years ago just because I thought it would be fun.

Vjo 09-01-2011 06:25 PM

Commuting more than 20 miles one way every day can be a major pain. Plus the savings on wear and tear to your car is tremendous. You can keep miles super low on a new car.

Was coming back from the city today in normal interstate traffic.
Btw, BAD day to go to Walmart on the first. LOL Madhouse!

Im in the right lane doing 67 in a 65 on a basic interstate when I see this car coming up hard behind me. He passes me on the RIGHT SHOULDER doing about 85 (when he could have passed normally on the left) then immediately ahead of me veers over to the left lane but is then finally trapped in by traffic in both lanes and sits in the left lane doing about 69. What an idiot.

It was hotter and muggier than heck today and tends to make people have no patience.

Too much stress out there now days. Ya dont realize how good you got it. You have to get out once in a while but you forget how traffic sucks and has always sucked.

I've been self employed for 6 years now and running the site as a full time occupation has been a great experience for me...and something that I hope to continue doing for as long as I can. I really don't see myself doing anything else other than working in this industry.

And hell no....I don't miss anything about any of my previous jobs!

blonda80 09-01-2011 11:26 PM

I don`t miss anything from my old life. Is good just the way it is now.

Socks 09-01-2011 11:50 PM

It would take a really great project and team to get me out of my place every day.

I miss telling other workers to do my work for me otherwise I will take their lunch money and then fire them. But seriously, I do miss the joys of having employee's. However I like the fact I can do whatever I want whenever I want.

Sid70 09-02-2011 05:47 AM

I just prefer to get paid for doing nothing.

I remember the day actually was able to quit my job and work for myself on the internet full time. It was 1998 and I have worked from home mostly since then. I can't count the offices DWHS has got for me that I never used lol. When you can work from home life is just better if you ask me.

thickcash_amo 09-02-2011 03:53 PM

Never, and I don't think I ever will

bean-aid 09-02-2011 11:22 PM

I wouldn't give up the freedom to wake up at 9, or 11, or whenever ever ;)

Emil 09-03-2011 12:26 AM

No! The only good thing with working for someone else is that you doesn't need to care that much about how much the company makes, paperwork....

But I wouldn't stand working for someone else. Going up 7am, walking through snow to some building were I would stay for hours doing something I would hate... Fuck that!
